First Flight
Anyone in IAD on the 19th can catch the first live trip for N182UA. It is going to be a plane sub for 141, IAD-ORD and return as 360, ORD-IAD. I realize it is still selling as a 319 but as of 1615 tonight, it is scheduled to be subbed to the new 747. Please understand that things still could change but tomorrow looks like a go. Also, if you happen to be on 141, say hi to C-5Crewdog.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

I'm interested to hear some feedback on the E+ section that has been moved up front of the Y section. Namely the approx pitch...
Currently 744's are 34/35" which is the worst E+ on the long-haul fleet.
This will have a significant impact on my choice of carrier for the next year given the absence of PTV's in Y, the E+ pitch is the "compensating factor".
So any "poor cousins" who end up down the back, do let us know how it all goes.
I did have the option to do SFO-ORD on a refurbished 744 in October which had NC availability but the 30K upgrade cost for two seemed unjustified for a 4 hour hop. (If I was on my own, I wouldn't have hesitated!)
Hope anyone on the first few flights enjoys the experience!

One of my good friends worked the the first flight today the 19th it was flight 141 IAD-ORD. They said that it was incredible!! As we all know the seats are a huge improvement over the ones they have currently in First and Business. They also said that even the seats in economy were comfortable...maybe because they are all new. New Paint, wonderful IFE that starts itself. Plasma screens in economy. They couldn't install the small monitors in the seats (too expensive), but they took out those projectors and replace all with plasma. Upper Deck only has about 20 seats. When the plane landed in ORD they said that everybody and their mom came to see the plane. Onboard Supervisors, Gate Agents, Ramp, Maintenance, Zone Controllers...you name it they were there to catch a peek.

Thanks for the link unitedfa ^
Nice to be able to take a quick peek inside the newly configured 747.
Some comments:
1. The F seat shot at 34s looks good. The F cabin certainly has modern/industrial look to it.
2. The C cabin looks fine despite the 4 center seats at 1:16s in particular, though very quick shot. What are the brown looking things/bags by the foot stools of the C seats at 1:15s?
3. The TVs for the premium cabins almost look too big!
4. The upper deck is definitely the way to go ^
5. Though the plasma TVs are nice, would have still been better if individual seats get their own TV (oh well, and still a big improvement over the old projector screens)
6. Love the dedication for FTers at the end of the video ^
Thanks also to trueualfa for making and sharing the video ^

Thanks for the great photos.
A minor point. If the plane was doing IAD-ORD, I wonder why the departure board shows "Pending Upgrades" from "New York JFK"?
