How much have you spent to become 1K?

I am booking some final business and personal trips for 2007. I will finish the year at 105k miles with about $17k in spending (mostly business, some personal). How much do people spend to get to 1K (total biz and personal)?

YTD I am 103k BIS miles, with about 17k in spend so far. About 5 international trips so far, the rest domestic. 75% are H fares.

I would also guess about $5K. Mine is about 80-90% personal, with a few business trips thrown in.

$11K for 1K

I get 1K on segments with typical trip resulting in 4 segments and costing something north of $400. So, about $11K, I'd guess.

It's no wonder there are less and less benefits -- $5K is less than one round trip in business to Europe and the 6500 miles it brings. I don't mean to disrespect but how does one get 100,000 miles of flying for 5 cents a mile? That would make the average trans-con about $250 RT.

I looked over a few diners year end statements and for the 3 times I made it in the past the high spend was $40K (lots of trans-atlantic C) to $22K. This year looks like $18K.

Last year was the first year I kept track (for business reasons, not out of sheer interest ), and I ended up at $14k-$15k. BTW, 1K "happened" for me...I didn't strive to "make it."

Wirelessly posted (xx: BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3)

About 12k for me incl 3 TATL and 1 TPAC. 5k seems ridiculously low, but obviously doable.

If you do MR only, and don't go where you actually want to go, unless if MR fares go where you want to go (which is rare), AND you hit 3 CPEQM, then 100k miles will cost you $3K.

But then the whole point of having 1K is to upgrade when you go where you want to go, so forget what I said
