Today at SFO I asked the agent at the international terminal about my wife and my upcoming award trip SFO-SEA on UA connecting to LH SEA-FRA in F. (The SFO-SEA leg is currently in Y as no XF available yet.) Although a phone CSR told me a couple of months ago, and older posts on this thread seem to indicate as well, that we would be allowed into the IFL in SFO, the agent today checked his computer and read that IFL access was only for those departing from the local airport in intl F. This seems to also be on the Star Alliance website rules as well. Sorry if this has been covered on another thread, but have the rules changed, and IFL is only for international F from that airport, that is, not connecting to a same day TATL F flight?

What is *A thinking?
Is LH enforcing this too---where you can only go to a LH Biz lounge when arriving in F on LH and continuing in intra-Europe C?

International First Class Customers: Customers have access to International First Class1 and/or any Star Alliance member carriers' own lounges.
Customer must present a boarding card for the same day travel in international First Class on a Star Alliance flight
Customer must be departing from the local airport in International First Class
Customer is entitled to one guest
I was flying OZ HKG-ICN in C, connecting OZ ICN-ORD in F same day (OZ use the cheap KA lounge in HKG with no F). IFL in HKG initially wellcome me at first as I showed the agent my ICN-ORD boarding pass, after I went in sit down and have a juice, she came back and asked for my HKG-ICN boarding pass, she saw that I was in C, so I got escorted out. Try the next door TG lounge to see if I can get in the F side, was told I can only use the C side.

Quick IFL Questions
I used a couple SWUs to upgrade a paid C to F from SFO to HKG and from NRT to IAD. Do I get access to the IFLs (reading some other threads I have begun to think I may not get access). If I do get access, how is the IFL at NRT or should I use another airlines?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

F=NF=XF, when it comes to IFL access, AFAIK.
Can't comment on how good NRT IFL is.

I have always been admitted to the IFL regardless how I got into int'l F - with the sole exception being an op-up at the gate.

Yes, NF will get you in.
NRT IFL is quite nice. If you lay-over is long enough, you can also wander down and check out the ANA IFL. Very nice as well. Search, and you'll find some threads on the offerings of the lounges.

Hate to divert the topic, but are you allowed to take a guest into the IFL?

YYZ-ORD in F (UDU or paid) eligible to use IFL?
I flew DEN-YEG-DEN over the weekend. Fun trip. On the return, I visited the RCC in DEN and instinctively pulled out my BMI Gold card in order to gain access. The agent was having trouble scanning the card (as always) but the other agent pointed out that I was a 1K on an international ticket, so that was good enough to get me in without worrying about getting the BMI card scanned.
I was sort of shocked. For how much United seems to think that Canada is a domestic destination (UDU, award level, etc), I was surprised that they would consider it international for RCC access purposes. The matron even said that I would have gotten drink chits if I were on the outbound. Wow.
This got me to thinking -- what if Denver had an International First Lounge or an Arrivals Lounge? Would I be eligible for access based upon a UDU upgrade on a ticket to/from Canada? Seems almost crazy. Anyone tried this yet?

However drink chits are not in the policy
S*RCC/ADMIT
The access RCC is a specific RCC policy

Even if DEN had an IFL, you would not be eligible to use it for a trip to/from Canada.
