Problems with Refaring Twice within short span?
Hi All,
Quick Question: On a recent itinerary the fare went down from 900 to $800. SO I called to refare and was told I'd be mailed a $100 travel voucher. About a day and a half later the fare went down again to $650 and I called and was told I would receive a travel voucher for $150. Ok Great. My question is that I've recieved the $150 voucher almost two weeks ago and the initial $100 voucher never arrived. Have people had trouble refaring when they refare twice in say one week or very quickly after the first refare? My concern is that the initial refare is sent off to chicago and if another refare comes in before they've had a chance to process the first refare, they basically only do the second refare. Is my assumption true? Also, who do I contact to follow up? 1K res said I should try customer relations...but I don't really understand why I'd call them.... Any thoughts/help you can provide would be awesome. Thanks! |
I've "double-refared" on the same day. When neither vouchers arrived, I kept calling the refund dept. (every two weeks) until I got the vouchers.
Calling Customer Service will not get you the Type B refund vouchers. However, Customer Service may offer you a Type A voucher for your inconvenience at having to call repeatedly. This will be in addition to any Type B refund voucher. |
I'm having the same issue and now have a tracking number for my inquiry. 'Roy Anderson' from India insists the vouchers were sent.

The problem is not refaring "in quick succession." The problem is refaring. I was told by a CSR that the voucher mailing is outsourced, even though the return address says "Chicago" on it. IME, 90% of my vouchers never arrive on the first try. Other people have excellent success rates. Nobody knows why some vouchers never arrive and others do.
To get vouchers reissued, you have to call Refunds. Provide them with the ticket number and/or voucher number (whichever you have), explain that the voucher never arrived, and ask them to reissue it. Ask them to keep you on hold while they reissue the voucher - it doesn't give you any guarantees but it makes it more likely that they will handle the reissue request right then and there, rather than putting it on a "to do" list and then forgetting about it after handling a few more calls. But, in short, the problem is simply that the voucher mailing system is fubar'd, for some unknown reason. However... you do have to give them 4-6 weeks from request to complaint, as it may actually take that long for the vouchers to arrive. |
I have a bunch of bad luck with refaring, too.
Itinerary No 1 dropped 50 USD per person 4 weeks ago. So I refared online - the vouchers never arrived. Itinerary No 2. dropped 20 USD per person yesterday, so I refared online. Today it dropepd another 40 USD per person - but refaring online is no longer possible as .bomb tells me to call reservations. Thats what I did, and reservations tells me that a ticket can be refared only ONCE.:mad::mad: They tell me to call customer relations about this problem - ha ha, they are closed on the weekends. This sucks! |
