SWU usage/expiration question
Hi,
I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is SOL, but... If I book a flight in Dec 07 for March 08 flight and request an upgrade using a SWU that expires in Jan 08 does that work? Note: I did not qualify for 1k in 2007 and thus according to this thread cannot get MP to extend the expiration of one SWU. Thanks, Logan Monday |
I don't know, or see, a way around it. Sorry.

You are SOL. :(
You meant to say that you did not qualify for 1K in 2008, right? You're a 1K for this year but not for next year so, yes, that would mean you couldn't extend the SWU. And you don't have enough posts to go over to coupon connection and see if something could be worked out. |
1k Qual
That's correct, I didn't qualify to be 1k in 2008.

You might convince United to put you on the upgrade list (I've had them do so with SWUs that I haven't earned yet) but come March, your upgrade will be unsupported. Sorry. Expired is expired.

Funny that I was planning to do the same thing and fly in March with my Jan-expired-SWU. I call 1K desk and was told that I could NOT use Jan-expired-SWU for upgrading March flights. I will be 1K in 2008 and they are offering me 1 SWU extension and will let the 2 SWU go expired.

I was wondering about the samething the other day...
I booked a trip in March on united.com then requested upgrade online. There were some old SWUs (expire Jan. 2008) and some new SWUs in my account. The system automatically pulled the new SWUs. |
