1K international phone number?
 

I tried searching, but "1K" was under the required 4 characters for the search terms and "international" and "phone" come up with a bunch of results about the India call center. Anyway, I am a fairly new 1K. I know the toll-free 1K number. Is there a dedicated number that I can call when I am overseas? Maybe a toll number like credit card companies have? I don't expect anyone to post it here, but perhaps a little guidance? How about an international number for Premiers, Premier Executives? Does such a thing exist or are the local numbers not busy enough to justify such a thing for us?

It's against FT rules to post it in the forums. The number is on the back of your 1K card (if you have received it). Actually, it is the same as the domestic number, just use 001 as the prefix before the 800 number.

If 800 doesn't work, try 880 as the area code when out of the US.

For International Reservations you can use the following published, non toll-free number: (312) 364-1989.

AFAIK there is no non toll-free 1K number.

It seems like in many countries you can dial +1 800 while paying regular international long distance charges, and after waiting through several advisories in the local language(s).

Go to page 6 on the 1K site if you do not have the number yet.

Not being a 1K I do not know, but it appears for 1P,2P,3P and GM the process of entering your MP # causes you to be routed to the correct service center -- so it does not seem to matter which number you call. Is this true also for 1Ks??

there is definitely a toll number for 1K, look for a prefix beginning with 31x-xxx-xxxx since we can't post here.

if you're currently in the us, you can call your dedicated 1k toll-free line and ask them for the pay-for 1k number.

Are you sure? All I saw was the toll-free number.

I haven't tried this recently but it used to be that if you called the ATT Direct number from where you are you could then dial the 1K 800 number for free. I.e., UA picks up the international charges. Of course, you can often dial the 800 number from outside the US by just dialing the normal US access +1 as others have pointed out but then you pay the international part of the charge.

Called United from Beijing yesterday morning to reconfirm return flight. Used [the 800 1P number, the] only number I've used for years, programmed into my cell phone. Got a note on the screen that the call was being "forwarded" but within seconds got computer man giving me options of flight status, reservations, etc. Maybe it's the way my cell phone is set up but didn't add any other access codes. Just hit the speed dial.

Have tried in the past to call "local" numbers but found it a waste of time. Usually no answer at all or taped message.

The "Executive Desk" gave me the following numbers.

BOTH numbers are DISCONNECTED.

Domestic: 313-234-6288
International: 313-234-6109

I've been stuck calling MP (during their business hours) at 605-399-2411, then asking to be transferred to international reservations. Then HAL answers and I have to punch in my MP number and then after screaming "Agent" at HAL a few times, he transfers me to the "Executive Desk." :rolleyes:

I have tried the 312-364-1989 number. HAL answers, but the voice recognition and key recognition doesn't seem to work and I can't get it to transfer me anywhere properly (via telephone keypad or voice). It just transfers me to a line that gives a fast-beep. :(

I will try dialing the 880 area code in place of 800. Will report back.

When I tried the 800 area code from here in Thailand, I get a busy signal.

I've had a similar problem - my company phone card allows me to call to the US, but I cannot connect to an 800 number via the card.

I called the 1K desk here in the US (while in the US), and the CSA said there is no toll number for 1K, or for any of the elite lines.

She did suggest calling the (local country) number for United, which routes you to the India call center, and then asking for the 1K desk. The personnel there (I have had enough difficult experiences that I hesitate to call them "agents") are then supposed to route you to the proper (1K) personnel.

Haven't tried this yet, but I will when I'm next out of the US in mid-December.

Please note, when calling from a location outside of North America, you may call the published number for United Airlines Reservations in the country you are in (including local language support). You can also access the 1Call representative (English language service only) by dialing xxx-xxx-xxx-xxxx or visit united.com/worldwide.

But that's just the standard 1K toll-free number with an 001 (+1) prefix. Not really much help if looking for a toll number?
