In your first sentence, do you mean Y isn't getting AVOD? I mean, it's got in-flight entertainment... but it's not video-on-demand where you can start the movie any time you want, pause, rewind, fast-forward, and all that good stuff? Bummer. What about AC power in Y... anyone know? It sounds like while UA is now a good choice for international F/C, those of us who are stuck in international Y will still have better options.

Yes the only reason they do old school live demos in their current international fleet is because F & C pax screens are not always up and viewable to the passenger. In these new planes the screen is always viewable so they can use safety videos instead of doing the live demos.

Yep, F and C bins look new, but the Y bins seem to be the same ol' boxes from 1980.

The pics do look nice, and this is a HUGE improvement over the current seats. I can't wait for Gene's the trip report.

One thing though -- I wish there was a bit more COLOR in the cabin. Everything's grey and dark blue. How about a flower in the lav... hello, a RED TULIP perhaps?! Something?! Well, at least it's not as dreAAry as those coffin seAAts.

[QUOTE=SJPaul;8763525]Gene, let me first echo the sentiments of others on this board and say Thank You for keeping up updated on the inaugural flight ^

Yes, Thank you!

I was wondering, there seems to be a three-point seatbelt in First Class. It's not really clear on United's website. Is this true? Does business class have this? Seems strange.

It seems you pretty much have to watch your seatmate's TV screen as well as your own - at least in your peripheral vision - it looks like there is no way to block the screen correct?

Is this a little bit distracting?

The new F seats do have 3 point harnesses, apparently because of their "yaw" angle (with respect to the body of the aircraft). The new C seats all face straight forwards or backwards, and can use standard lap belts.

Thanks for the pics!

A couple of items in C I've noticed:

1. It looks like 4 passengers are sharing a wall of IFE and footrest and facing each other (facing aft of the aircraft). This is really ackward, I think. I can't imagine how it feels when taking off and landing when I am facing aft

2. The seats look pretty cramped....especially the armrests being so close together. Not much privacy I'd imagine?

3. F seats look "cheaper" than current old F suites

In your first picture of the C seat, I couldn't help but notice how narrow the armrest was. Made me think that Y-style armrest battles could start taking place in C! What did you think of the shoulder room?
The armrests are movable. The window one will rotate 90 degrees up and the center and aisle ones will slide down out of the way to give more seat width. I did not notice any problem. I am medium stocky build and and my seatmate was slim and we had no fights

Nice!
Haha, I know the purser and the FAs in that photo. They all know me as the chocolate man
I really wish I would of made this flight.

How comfortalbe are the seats to sleep in the full bed? Because with BA old seats, they are a bit hard, and for me a bit hard to sleep.

Did you happen to notice if there were any seats in Y (bulkhead, exit row, or otherwise) with a decent amount of legroom? Also, are there new PSUs? I hope there are still individual air vents, right?

The redone lavatories look fresh too - very nice to see. One thing that disappointed me when the p.s. 757s were rolled out was that the lavs had not been changed, and emerged still looking sad and tired.

Thank you very much for the pictures. I was curious how the back-to-back C seating configuration would save space, but now I see how they did it.
