SFO First class lounge access when arriving in First?
I couldn't find the answer by searching. I'm arriving in SFO from MUC on LH in First connecting to a UA C flight. Will I be able to use the First Class lounge in SFO prior to my UA flight in C based on my arriving flight in F?

forget it

UA flights to USA and Canada depart NOT from the international terminal, and the only first-class lounge is at your arrival international terminal. After arrival (at the international terminal) you will have to pick up your luggage, go through immigration, then pass costums, then you can hand over your luggage right afterwards for your connecting flight (before changing terminals), if the luggage has been tagged to the final destination. At UA's terminal you will have access to the Red Carpet Club (if that segment is on the same ticket as your incoming flight), or if you have Star-Gold-status. If your next flight segment is on UA C to Australia on the same day as your arrival with LH, than you have access to the first-class lounge (because of your incoming same day first-class flight). |
I thought so... but I could easily be wrong. I say call and ask @:-)
San Francisco Location: International terminal, Concourse G, between gates 98 and 100, See map Hours: Daily, 9:00am - 10:30pm Telephone: 1-650-634-1644 |
I think the UA F/C(rcc) lounges are for departing passengers in F/C only, unlike LH lounges, which accommodate both arriving and departing passengers.

Sorry, I should have made this clearer. Yes, I'm connecting from LH First MUC-SFO to UA C to SYD, so I'll stay at the International Terminal.
So far it's 1 "yes" and 1 "no"...;) |

Hmmmmm well since you're arriving in LH F and their website directs you to use the UA IFL at SFO I would say you should be able to use it. But, given the history of the matrons there I'd say you have a less than 50% chance of success, and if you are denied, an approximately 75% chance of getting your head bitten off for even having the audacity to ask.

You should be able to use the IFL since you can present a same-day *A F ticket - in this case your red LH BP. If the matrons at the IFL give you crap, exit the lounge, walk to the RCC and have them call a supervisor. Then walk up to the IFL with the supervisor and inform them to look up S*RCC/ADMIT.

Folks, we are talking about the SFO IFL here. Rules don't matter to those matrons. Axey's approach might work, but the two locales aren't that close. I would try to get the matrons to call a supervisor although those folks probably would refuse.

Same Day *A F gets you into the IFL. I'd enter with the LH BP and tell them that I arrived today on LH in F. I'd not even get into the UA SYD flight in C unless it comes up.

As for the SFO IFL matrons, I have twice gotten my head bitten off for asking for a can of diet coke when they run out (as they often do). I cannot imagine how they will react to a request like this. They may call security and have you ejected for even asking the question. ;)
