I want to speak to a US based agent
I have tried calling 5 times and each time I get the ICC. I won't go into the multiple reasons I want to speak to a USA based res agent but I think that 5 calls and they all have been routed to the ICC. Even when I asked to be switched to an intl. supervisor I got the ICC. Guess its the time of day.
I don;t have status anymore with UAL so I can't get use their Elite number. I presume the Premier line goes more often to the USA?

I don't think the numbers make any difference anymore (besdies GS). You're routed based on your status
No Status=ICC

50k+ EQM gets you a USA agent almost always... otherwise expect the ICC every time.

Premier - Often ICC
Premier Exec - Sometimes ICC
1K - Rarely ICC
UGS - Never ICC
Sorry. I wouldn't give your business to UA, since they don't provide a reasonable way for you to give them your money.

The exception appears to be partner award booking. The initial booking seems to go to the ICC all the time, regardless of status.

You have to call the 1K/1P line to book award travel (including partner), not the general international award desk, which as you say has been outsourced and become complete useless.

If you want to speak to a US Based Agent call:
1-800-433-7300
That number will always reach a US Based Agent.

Ha-ha ... I think that's the number to American Airlines, or should I say Aerolineas Americanos: "Welcome to American Airlines. Para Espanol, viga Espanol" ...

Calling late at night (8pm-12am PST) sometimes works. I know, as a GM and 2P, I would get a HNL or DTW agent a fair amount of the time back in 2005/06. Don't know if that's still the case.

Interesting. I called the 1P line to make an award reservation earlier this year and they told me that I must call the general international awards number - that the 1P reservations agents couldn't handle new MP reservations. If United is anything, it's consistently inconsistent.

I just booked a partner award two days ago.
I got the 1P desk to make the hold..
When I called back change the hold the woman answered
"International 1K desk" I asked her she just does international 1K's and she said that her normal job is UGS desk, but she was helping with overflow. She was very helpful, but wouldn't give me the UGS phone number

Aren't international related purchases (i.e. ORD-LHR) routed to the US no matter status?
