Help With Crediting A Us Flight On Ua

I mailed a request to United per their request to have my United account credited with a US Air flight. I do not have my original boarding passes and UA denied me basd on this. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to get this credited? Should I go to US Air for info or dispute the denial with UA? It was a First Class seat and I would very much like these miles. Thanks for any advice.

The BP had always been a requirement for all airline FF programs to get credit for missing flights.

It will be difficult or impossible without the boarding passes. Always keep your boarding passes!

Did the tickets have your UA number on them? Or did you fly without a frequent flyer number? Maybe you had a US number on them?

It had my United number so I assumed (Yea, I know) that it would be credited as I never had a problem in the past.

There has got to be a way for them to know I was on the flight since many airlines seems to love turning this info over to the government. Obviously there are records kept somewhere.

Just because they exist doen't mean they want to use them for this purpose.

This could be dicey...you might be able to get a sympathetic CSR from US to fax you some sort of certification that you were BIS on that flight, but whether UA will accept it is a crapshoot. It might not even be worth your time and frustration.

I was in a similar situation, but I had everything specified as a requirement and mailed it in with a note with my MP number explaining what I was asking for. Received a response saying that I didn't provide all that was needed to credit the flight, even though a checklist with all the specified requirements was included as part of my note. I didn't bother arguing over 1 segment, but even when the rules are followed the process doesn't always work.

How long ago was the flight? Delays in UA posting US miles have been reported, though, admittedly, it's always happened pretty quickly for me.

Do you have a US Dividend Miles account? If so, you can probably at least get credit for the flight on US - I think all you need is the date of the flight and the ticket number and you should be able to get mileage credit instantaneously on-line. And even if you do get US credit, you can still pursue getting MP credit too.

Thanks for all the info. I just got home and looked at the original letter and attachments I sent and I do have the boarding passes (which I sent copies of). The letter is denying my request stating they need the originals. I guess I'll make copies for myself and resubmit with the originals. I don't like doing that because then I have no proof other than a copy.

Sorry for the misinformation.:o

That had been my experience also, last time with American. Like traffic court, we never win.

I'm in a similar situation right now. Flew BOS-PHL-LAS about 6 weeks ago. Had my UA number put on (it's on the boarding passes). The miles for the return legs were creditted. The miles going out were not. Sent in a letter with my MP number on it, the original boarding passes (I did make a copy of them in case I needed them later) and a copy of the email I got after I booked online that was the receipt with all the info they wanted. Got a letter back 3 weeks later saying that I needed to include the original ticket. So I just sent a letter back with the copy of the same email informing them that I booked the flight online and this was my receipt and e-ticket and it had all the info they were looking for (ticket number, etc.). I think they are getting confused though because US made a change to the itinerary a few weeks after I booked (one of those that now instead of leaving at 10:03, the flight is leaving at 10:07) but the flight number changed when they did that. I'm fully expecting to get a letter back saying I didn't include the original boarding passes this time, even though I noted that I had previously included them in my letter with this response. I will continue to fight the good fight, but I've got even money that I never see these miles.
