767's to Europe have First Suite?

Hi, I did a search on 767's and Paris, but couldn't find out if they have the First Suite on the ORD-CDG 767?

TIA!

None of the 763s have it AFAIK. Only 744/777.

As of now none of UA's 767's have the First Suite. As soon as they reconfigure them, which should start early next year or maybe even late last year, they will get the new suites.:)

Nope, sure don't. Just a glamorized C seat.

I thought the F suites were being updated Q4 of this year (2007)? Isn't that what they wrote in some press release?

Ugh. That is pathetic. So it is not worth using an SWU on this flight? Is the "F" seat any easier to sleep in?

It's been a few years since I flew a UA 767. :td:

It's been a year since my last trans-atlantic in a 767 F, but if I remember correctly, it is a C seat with added power adjustments. Nice touch for an op-up (only op-up I ever received), but worth the SWU.

You could fly ORD-IAD-CDG to get a 777 with the First Suites.

UA950/UA914 ORD 1:15 PM CDG 7:15 AM +1 IAD 763/777 11h00m

You could even compare to the 763's F seat on ORD-IAD. :)

I booked my parents with first class award tickets from RDU to BOM recently. It was fairly close to departure (end of January), and they just started their trip on Apr 10th.

Anyway, the only flight available trans-Atlantic was IAD-FRA on a UA 763. Without many other options for other days, I went ahead and booked them. A nice 1K perk is being able to change award tickets without any fees, so I started calling about every week to check current award inventory.

After a couple of weeks, I was able to change the return FRA-IAD flight to a UA 744. Not LH F, but better than UA 763. However, I couldn't get any luck changing the IAD-FRA UA 763.

About 4 days before their trip, I called to check on another leg of their trip, and was surprised to find out that somehow they had been waitlisted and cleared for LH 419 in F (IAD-FRA). I had long since given up on any LH F opening up trans-Atlantic, and Star Alliance itineraries aren't even supposed to allow waitlists.

Not too sure how it happened, but it was a nice Easter surprise. I got a nice e-mail from the folks while they were relaxing in the FRA F lounge, saying that the LH F flight was the best they had been on. And they were about to jump on another LH F from FRA-BOM.

Moral of the long story: I'm glad my folks didn't have to experience UA 763 F.

AFAIK, the reason why the 763s don't have the suites in F now is because of the weight. I guess the new F suites will be lighter..

That's VERY surprising.

This is my understanding as well, although I am surprised the new suite is lighter.

Meh, that's what they say, but I am trying to be realistic and make UA look good when they are late.:D

The first 767 will be updated later this year, followed by a steady line of planes until they are all completed. The 767 is the first fleet, followed by the 747 then the 777.

FWIW :)

Thanks. Actually I'm flying LAX-CDG via ORD as that was the only thing available for my date; ticketed on a CRTW. But maybe I will try to switch dates to get on a 777 or 747 somehow. I don't think I will be able to sleep with those 767 seats as I can't sleep in ordinary UA C seats. Or I could just do LH biz and deal with the slippery slope.
