Denver Premium Security Line

A while back someone posted on a thread (which I can't find) that only *A Gold could use the premium security lines in Denver. I checked the sign at the North checkpoint entrance on Tuesday and it said United Premier, Premier Executive. So it appears that *A Silver can use those lines.

Premier Executive is *Gold, so I don't see how *Silver would have access. The bottom line is that most Elites in most programs can use the elite lines. Occasionally they will turn away a Premier member, but it's not that common.

Just because they let in Premiers does not mean all Star Silvers are allowed. For example elite check-in is for Premiers but not for Star Silvers.

I don't think I've seen an elite check-in that excluded *Silvers... (I realize that other *carriers restrict it to *G, but I think UA lets everyone use it...)

yea, actually I think also 3Ps can use the DEN security line. At least back when I was a 2P, I had no problems using it. Ill be flying out of there later today, ill check up on it.

Actually, in the main DEN security lines, it's exactly opposite of this (or was as of Monday).

The signs @ DEN security state:

...
United: Premier Executive, 1K, Global Services, PassPlus (I think)
...
Star Alliance: Silver, Gold

It has always specifically excluded 2P from the United list, although plenty of 2P's have been able to use it and could probably argue the *S thing with TSA. It's likely the biggest benefit of being 1P in DEN, IMO.

Also, I haven't been there in a few months, and as a 1P never really paid attention, but I believe the Concourse A security line in the walkway does allow (specifically) 2P's. My wife is 2P and if the main line is long, takes the concourse A walk and can always use the faster line.

Mrs. Redbeard uses the elite ecurity line as a 3P, and has never had any problems.

I personally think an elite is an elite and should be able to use the priority line. 1K's should be escorted directly from curbside to the gate without any interaction with the rest of the riff-raff.

The Denver elite line was a disaster a few weeks ago (but ok about 10 days ago) and much slower than the regular line. I made a fuss about it and the TSA blamed the ID checkers and vice versa. The difference from before was that they only allowed the elite line feed into one X-ray line after the ID check.

They also have a strange policy of letting very few people (2 or 3 at a time) selectively use a lane with a "puffer" but they were taking people from the regular lines further away and a robotic TSA employee declined to use it to help with the growing elite line. Eventually he let 3-4 of us in. I think he tried intentionally to not to let me in but as soon as he opened the rope I was through.

I have heard that it is better to head over to the south security lines if there as back-up on the UA dominated side.

...or better still, hoof it across the bridge to Concourse A and go through security there, then hop the train to Concourse B.

The elite line at Concourse A is rarely crowded, and it includes the Puf-n-Stuf as well.

This seems to happen occasionally on the north side (not as much on the south side since they moved the line configuration). I'm never sure if it's the TSA or ID checkers that do this or the elites themselves. As DenverBrian noted, the elite line for the A terminal is rarely busy. Generally, I find that the North elite line is shorter than the south (UA) one.

yea its 1k and 1p and pass plus. just checked it

Wow--I guess I never read the sign. I am in and out of DEN every week and never raised an eyebrow in the premier security as a 2P last year, nor has my wife had a problem as 3P. I honestly thought they just looked for a "1" on your boarding pass. I'm 1P in 07 so I suppose it is moot. It is rarely overcrowded even if they are letting in too many people.

Right. I'm one 2P who doesn't try to use it because the sign very clearly says I can't. I suspect that if I tried to argue the *S thing, anybody smart enough to have stopped me would argue right back that the *S thing doesn't apply to 2Ps flying United in Denver. Being able to legitimately use that line is one of the big motivating factors in my quest for 1P (and also in always trying for an upgrade).

The puffer experience is for all those lucky folk that get an SSSS stamped on their ticket usually due to:
One way tickets
Using cash to purchase tickets

As a 2P I never really noticed the sign at Denver. Have used the elite line numerous times and have never had a problem.
