UA915 Tail hit by Truck; Help with Delay
Greetings all,
In CDG RCC now. UA915 was hit by a catering truck and staff have reported that due to Union regs., engineers may not be able to fix the plane today.
There are two AF flights leaving, but the RCC staff have only escorted F/UGS members to ticketing. We (family of 4) are in J.
Can someone point me in the right direction as for asking in transferring ticket to other *A carriers? LH to FRA/MUC?
Should I call UA?
We are heading to MIA.
Many thanks,
bhd87

There is also a 10:50AM flight to MIA on AF. Any way of getting onto that?

UA still shows that the flight is due to leave at 3pm CET.

If this flight does not leave you will get delayed overnight. Most flight are fully booked on all classes of service, There are some seats to JFK late in the day. You will then get stuck in NY overnight.
Bad stuff does happen, I find it best to call reservations when stuff happens and get them to sort it out while you are in line. If you have status they may protect you on some other flights.

As this is from the EU, there are specific regulations they are supposed to follow in terms of compensation (which include cash if they can't accomodate you elsewhere) I believe, unless they consider this out of their control ... someone with more EU experience can answer that one.
As far as being rebooked, you mentioned that some F/UGS were escorted to ticketing, did you ask to be re-routed and they denied you or didn't you ask? You should proactively talk with the agents to see how you can be re-routed (although its harder with that many people in your party), offer them the routings to check so when they tell you 'sorry' you at least have a better chance that they've checked everything. Also, as someone mentioned above call UA reservations on the phone and have them start looking around for alternatives for you. Although they won't be able to do anything definitive until the flight is officially cancelled, at least they could potentially protect you another routing.
Good luck!!
