personally, i wouldn't do it as there are rules against selling and/or bartering and you could end up with a mess of trouble come check-in time.

Agree with goalie. This is completely against the rules of the MP program, and both you and the seller could be in deep trouble when it comes to the bartering or sales of upgrades. It could be that the person selling them works for UA and is trying to get people in trouble... you never know.

Many companies give these to their employees, and I've never heard of an agents having or creating a problem because of them.

But Still the OP should not buy UA upgrades off of Ebay. If UA finds out they will freeze his account and the sellers account. I have seen threads about this happening in the AA forum.

But I do agree that they are easy to reedem and that many Companys give them out but it is just not worth the risk

I agree with Lucky, Chances are because the price is so low the seller may work for UA and is trying to get people to bite and get them in trouble. I have lurked on Ebay and have seen CR-1s sell for over $100 and SWUs for over $400.

I won't make someone else's moral decisions for them. I was just providing the information the OP asked for, and it's up to him/her to decide whether or not to acquire them.

You should know, then, that "Time-Verified Upgrades" no longer exist and have been replaced with "Status Regional Upgrades".

Hence, the ones sold on eBay are no longer issued, usually not stamped with a place of issue or expiration date and should raise the eyebrows of any competent CSR.

I didn't know that. The last time I had one was about 3 years ago, and I'm pretty sure it was a Status Regional Upgrade at that time.

I've seen these "Time Verified Upgrades" offered in a lot more places than eBAy. I've also heard somewhere else that they were no longer issued but no one has ever said when the last time they were given out was and no one seems to be saying if they are working now or not?

I realize that a lot of people here are against selling upgrades and vouchers on ebay, etc and of course the risk is there of UA finding out, etc but it would be nice for the OP and others willing to take the risk to know what the status of the vouchers really is.
Heck, as far as the risk goes, if these are good vouchers that can be used today, have someone you know without a mileage plus account buy the things for you... no account to freeze that way.

dvs - you miss the point. It's the users of a purchased upgrade that will be burned by UA if caught, the "actual" purchaser is irrelevant beyond the purchase transaction itself.

This is absolutely correct.
