Thumbs up 1K baggage desk awsome

If you recall my earlier rant about my luggage, I called up the UA 1K bag desk. No problems there. Yesterday 1st thing in the morning like promised they gave me a call and updated me on my bags. When my bags got in, they called me up and asked if they should deliver them or hold them for pickup. I opted for pickup since I had my next flight a few hrs later. I told them I would be at the airport at 4am and if someone could meet me. Sure enough, 4am I was met by a red carnation agent, and she helped me get my bags. I get another phone call today to check if everything is OK, and another apology.
This is the CS I like! Great checking and followups^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

I have had great service with 1K baggage also. They even helped me sort out a clients bag. ^

Also had excellent 1K bag support last June when a checked one went missing SFO->DEN. UA insisted it was delivered to my DEN hotel the night before. The hotel insisted it never got it. While I called UA 1K from the hotel lobby, UA made several calls including to hotel staff, 40 feet away from me; and UA was right, as a very red-faced hotel asst. mgr. produced the bag that had indeed been delivered during the night.

Where do I find this 1K baggage phone number?

I've been using the standard number on the ticket jacket!

I used the standard toll-free number for 1K reservations -- should be on 1K membership cards.

The baggage line is the same number as the 1K reservation line? For some reason, I thought this was another special number.

No, theres a special number. I left it at home but just cal up baggage service, and have them transfer you to the 1K baggage and ask them for the number

I had excellent service from the 1K Baggage Desk when my carry-on got removed from a PHX-LAX flight. I made sure to write in and compliment the agent after receiving messages on both the phone numbers she had to make sure I got my bag back. I suggest you do the same. It's always nice to compliment someone as well as tell United when they've screwed up.

Yes, call the 1K number, go to reservations, then ask to be transferred to 1K baggage desk. I asked if they had a direct nbr, and was told no.

My experiences starting with baggage services have always been awful. Start with 1K reservations.
