i flew with a friend on her first flight ever, and she did just that. she was looking for anything that she could take as a souvenir, and since it was only a 1-hour flight on a small plane, there wasn't much else to take...

I never flew IAD-BWI nor the SFO-OAK flights.

But I have taken the SFO-MRY 757 several times, and back in the late 80s, both 767 and DC-10 served the SMF-SFO route (83 miles).

not UA, but in Japan 747s and 777s run every 30min from Tokyo to Osaka (~300miles) or Sapporo...

I would have to agree with OGG-KOA on the 777 which is 84 miles, you are not allowed to book that flight seperate though.

flew ORD-SJC-SFO on a DC-8-71 in the late '80's
also LHR-BRU (discontinued?) - that can't be a long flight since you can take a chuneel train

UA used to have a bunch of interesting short hopppers till recently - IAD-ROC-BUF-ORD; ORD-PVD-Portland ME - ORD; SEA-PDX-ORD; also ORD-OMA-Lincoln Neb-DEN; BWI-DCA-MIA - to connect to UA's "fortress" Miami hub

have a '70's schedule that shows jets making 3-4 stops between SFO and LAX - those were the days with stops in Fresno, Bakersfield etc.

Does UA still fly LAX-SBA and LAX-PSP on mainline? or was it sh#tle?

Pre 2001 with "Shuttle" flights they would often operate a 744 btwn SFO-LAX to get people moving during SFO's infamous fog delays. Just this past October I flew LAX-SFO in a 3 class 763. Nice ride

OGG-KOA is now a partner flight (AQ/Island Air), at least in Dec and June.
DEN-COS is now UX - no more mainline.
SFO-MRY also looks like all UX

DEN-EGE still has a seasonal mainline flight on a 320 (used to be a 757). At 120 Miles it comes in as one of the shorter mainline flights in the UA system.

LAX to SFO

Once upon a time, maybe 5 years ago when United Shuttle was in existence they had canceled 2 flights in sequence because of delays. So United decided to pack 3 flights into 1 747. It took more time to load and unload the plane than the actual flight.
