Elite 40K Choice - EQMs or e-cert?

I guess something is wrong with the search function b/c I have been trying for the past week to search on this subject (I know there's plenty of threads!). Anyway, I have reached the 40K milestone, and have my choice of rewards, but the two I am deciding between are the 2,500EQMs and the $50 e-cert.

The email says that the $50 e-cert is good for $100 off an itinerary for 2 people, which is a pretty good deal. But what are the restrictions on this cert? Is it really $100 for two? That doesn't seem to make sense to me.

And of course there's the 2,500 EQMs, and my only hesitation with that is that for the past two years I have made 1P with about 2,500 extra miles for whatever reason. Of course if I don't take the EQMs, then I'll be 2,500 short next year :D

I'd like to find out what others have chosen and how the e-cert works (they really need to get the search function fixed!)

Thanks!

Hey...not to hijack your thread, but I was curious: How quickly did you receive your elite choice email after you hit the 40K level?

I thought I remember hearing the 50.00 e-certs are much like the entertainment coupons and have minimum fare classes and are a little restrictive, plus IMHO ua.com does not really accomitate coupons very well.

for RK: took about 7-10 days after my last flight (are you sure you are registered?).

Let's see, I reached the 40K threshold on Sept. 18th, and got my email on Sept. 26th. Not too far away. I figure that they do the Saturday sweeps, and then start sending out the emails.

Is the requirement 40K EQM of 40K actual BIS miles? I passed 40K EQM about 10 days ago and have not received anything. I am only around 38K BIS though.

As with almost all of these promos, the requirement is EQM based.

I think it is BIS... (I don't know if the CC EQM offer apply) also, did you have 2P status as of March 1? And are you sure you are registered for the promo?

I got the email about 2 weeks after passing 40k EQM and chose to carry over the 2500 EQMs. None of the other options were as attractive. I didn't think $50/$100 was worth the potential hassels in redemption.

I did register but I was not 2P on March 1st. The offer was included in my 2P welcome packet though. I guess I'll just watch my email and hope for the best!

Wrong. See HERE for detailed information.

I would take the e-certificate. You can use it to earn for EQM and RDM :D. IMHO, the 2500 EQM will not make a difference to my achieving elite status. 5000 EQM, on the other hand, will (which will be your next level reward 75 or 125K? I don't remember)

Forgive my ignorance... how does the carry over work?

Does it subtract from your 2006 total to add to your 2007 total?

Example, if I end 2006 with 51,000 EQM's, does it mean that my 2006 EQM total is not 49,500 and I miss re-qualifying for Prem Exec?

More detail on the e-cert:

It has fare restriction (Y, B, M, E, U, H, Q, V, W fares only). It may apply for 2 people as there is some wording that allow max of 2 on the same ininerary but good to double check. Must be domestic, round trip, and used within a year... Sounds a good value if those rules work for you.

No, you keep however many EQMs you have for 2006

When Jan 1, 2007 hits, you will have had 2500 EQM sitting in your account smiling at you :D
