Question regarding getting discounted ticket on united.com
Hi everyone,
I just discovered this site about few days ago and I am still trying to absorb all the enormous information that are posted on this site.
Seeing how most of the people always book on united.com, I have a question regarding booking ticket with different class code.
I already changed my profile to have the capability to see the availability of each flight, but how do I actually book a ticket with different class code?
I am trying to book a discounted international business class ticket code Z and I see that the flight do have availability for class Z, but how do I book it?

In general, you cannot book specific fare classes on united.com - it will give you the cheapest fare that matches your search parameters (based on class of service, upgrade eligibility, and promo code). If there is a Z fare offered on the route you want, and you search for Business Class fares, you will get the Z fare. If the flight shows Z fare availability and you don't get a Z fare, it means that there isn't a Z fare offered for that route (or the C or D fare is cheaper - unlikely).

Thanks for the fast respond!
Because I used to always book with travel agent and they were able to find class V economy tickets for me which I was never able to find on united. That is why I wonder whether there are any special ways to book them.

For example, intl Z fares are usually quite restrictive and typically require an advance purchase anywhere from 21 to 60 days. This is the most common problem people have in not finding Z fares.
What are your dates and city pairs? I can check to see if a Z fare is even offered, and if so, why you are not being offered it on united.com.

I am generally looking for ticket from TPE-YYZ.
Originally I wanted to try for June 2007, and I see the availibility but can't book it.
I found out at www.tw.united.com that there's business promotion until end of the year on booking code Z, I tried to search for ticket YYZ-SFO for date within this year still didn't get any luck

It looks like it requires UA 830/831 transpac which is the TPE-NGO-SFO flight. If you can see that, you should be able to book it. Sometimes when searching by price, a higher price will show, but when you choose those flights, the correct lower price will show. It pays to be thourough.
With a ticket like this, if united.com was not working, I would try to book with a TA. You don't want to lose this fare! ^

The cheapest fare united.com will pull up is the DXSOTO ticket. SOTO means that the ticket can be issued and sold by a TA anywhere. The other tickets can only be issued in Taiwan. That includes the ZNGO fare as well as the other cheaper D tickets.
You will need to contact a TA in Taiwan to issue this ticket for you. It may be possible to just call UA in Taiwan and they can do this for you, but I'm not sure if they have reservation/ticketing abilities there.

However, I tried almost everywhere in Taiwan and I finally found someone who found the ZNGO fare, but flying to TPE-NGO-SFO-ORD costed almost $3000US RT? How come? Flying to SFO is only listed as $1800US
I also see that they have promotion to fly to New York using ZNYC, can someone please give me more information (price, rule, routing) on this promotion please? Can I do TPE-NGO-SFO-NYC?
I am thinking of doing a MR if this Z ticket is available.
