And if most of your flights are on other *A airlines, and not UA, you wouldn't be earning the CR1s anyway.
You forgot about the SWUs..... |

All I want is to able to use SWU earlier, since some of the transatlantic trips are long... |

Having purchase the tickets does not automatically mean you will fly. If UA grants you because tickets have been told, then anyone could purchase fully refundable tickets and ask for 1K status. |

No one seemed to know the exact criteria at that time tho. Perhaps a conversation with a sympathetic MP CSD can yield the same benefits for others now? Best, Dave |

My main motive is that if I can get "advanced" 1K in September, I can get the 2 CR-1s in the October sweep. Otherwise if I wait until October I won't get Q3 CR-1s. From other threads I have read I believe it does not matter if the 10K miles in the quarter were all flown while you were 1K.
I would think if you have non-refundable tickets booked it should be a courtesy to advance the status. jason6812 did it for 2P and 1P prior to his Denver mileage runs... yes, I know that is different than 1K, but we havent head of anyone trying and failing with non-refundable itineraries putting them over the top. So, I try, we get data point :), wont be til mid-Sept though for me. The difference with the OP is the LH flights instead of UA. |

Unless accrue 100,000 EQMs (or 100 EQSs) on or before 30 September 2006, and 10,000 UA metal miles for the period 1 July 2006 - 30 September 2006( your 90,000th - 100,000th miles), you will not be able to earn two (2) Q3 CR-1's. SWU's would be deposited on/about 1 January 2007 provided you accrued 100,000 EQMs (or 100 EQSs) during 2006. (For those that [re-]qualify early UA/MP have in the past offered an early-deposit option for two(2) SWU's in the OCt/Nov timeframe, but I can't recall the exact details of this offer.) I can see early 1K status helping with things like clearing a DM, or getting a meal choice or access to the 1K phone, or waiver of award fees, or 10% off duty-free, or access other ground services, but not getting upgrades early. (This assumes the system is not flawed, and that once you show up as a comped 1K you do not automatically start participating in upgrade sweeps.) |
