Purchasing upgrade to E+ from Easy Chicken

Has anyone here purchased an upgrade into E+ on checkin either @ airport or online? If so what was the price? (Is it dependent on the duration of flight?)

Can not find any info on the pricing on UA's awesome web site...

thanks,

The only time I purchased E+ was in November of 2005, before I had status and from LHR to IAD it cost me about $85.00.

I think I paid like $42 a couple of times for shorter flights, e.g. DEN<->PHX, for E+

It depends on flight distance. I've seen it for MCO-ORD-PDX for $79, MCO-DEN was like $40.

I upgraded in Jan from BDL-ORD-LAX and it cost $38.00.

I've seen SEA-ORD for $39.

Only did this once. Before status as well. BEJ->ORD at checkin counter. $80. Definitely well worth it.

If posters UGed on line, where did you find the option and how long before flight time did you upgrade?

Thanks

It'll be offered during online checkin (OLCI) if it is at all. Otherwise, you can ask at airport checkin (if you have to go back and check bags) or at the gate.

O well--it's probably all "yield managementey" -- I am sure you could squeeze a lot of intelligence into the pricing algorithm.... Glenn wants every last $1.00 from every poor E- n00b with a dream, right.... ;)

Starting price $50
Add or subtract 10% for every hour flight is over/under 4hrs
Add 20% if E+ is nearly full
Subtract 20% if E+ is nearly empty
--etc

What I don't understand is how some folks report paying $100 for a single flight when you can get E+ access for a year for $300.... I have a 4 leg itinerary coming up soon, (w/2 stopovers), and another couple trips in the next couple months, maybe it's worth it to buy in for a year. :rolleyes: 'specially since the wife is coming along....
