Difference between RCC and International Lounge?

OK, I've read the obvious differences online, but what's your "take" on the real differences? I'm flying full-fare out of SFO to PEK and would like to know why I'd like to go to the International lounge instead? Is it all that much better or is it placed closer to my gate? I've never been in the international lounge, so I'm clueless about it. Just thought maybe some of you seasoned travellers could give me a "heads up".

I am not sure exactly what you are saying. All UA international lounges are RCC's. There are some RCC's which are domestic, which are located at a domestic only airport or terminal, and all others are international, where UA has international flights from. It is still an RCC.

Whether you can use a lounge of any kind or not depends on several things, like do you have UA status, or are you flying in business or first class. Business class gets you the RCC in the international terminal, which is very nice. First class gets you the International First Class lounge (IFL) which is VERY nice. If you are a RCC member you can access the RCC anywhere.

Only business class or higher can get into the "lounge". No matter how much you paid for your Y - full fare ticket still will not get you in.

Unless you are 1P or * gold, then you can get in.

Maybe by international lounge you mean a Star Alliance Gold Lounge?

Sorry, I paid full fare for first class ticket, so I was thinking I was entitled to the International Lounge and thought there was a difference between it and the regular lounge. Sorry to confuse anyone. On a full-fare first class ticket, I get access to the lounge - especially since I'm flying international, right? OK, if so, is THAT lounge at SFO different from the regular one for non-international flights? If so, how? That's what I'm asking.

You get access to the International First Class Lounge with your paid first class ticket - and it is considerably nicer than the RCC. It is about half way down the hall on the right hand side, whereas the RCC is immediately beyond security on the right hand side. Enjoy!

You might want to check loungeguide.net.
For SFO IFL, check out http://www.loungeguide.net/wiki/u/Sa...t_Class_Lounge

Thanks for the link! We have F Award tickets to SYD next year, and I wanted to share with Mom what the lounge was like. Now I can!

At SFO, there international UA flights depart from the international terminal. There is an RCC and F lounge in the international terminal, and a standard RCC in the domestic terminal.

If you are flying in international F (or PS coast-coast), you can use the international F lounge. In business class (or *G in Y) you can use the RCC, which in the case of an international flight from SFO would be most convenient to use the RCC in the international terminal.

You mean the United FIRST International Lounge which is for customers traveling in United First on international flights.

The United First International Lounge in SFO is considerably nicer than any United RCC in SFO. The entrance to the SFO United First International Lounge is in the 'middle' of the UA international terminal between gates 98 and 100.

Enjoy.

Good luck with that if your flight departs from the domestic terminal....

You should use the First Class lounge in SFO. It is the best.

in LAX or JFK you can use it though. You have to be 21 to get in as I have run into that problem a few times :(

Thanks for the info! Went to loungeguide and was quite impressed with the description and pics. We'll definitely be stopping by before our flight.
