Where is the seat chart?

So for such a naive question, but twice now I have been interested in flying United and even if I put a hold on the reservation I still can't figure out how to find out what seats are available.

My last check was for 4/17 OKC-SDF with return on 4/23. I asked for first and it gave me a price of $331. 3 or the 4 segments are ERJs so I guess the 4th segment is a small RJ. Also there is almost a three hour layover in ORD going to SDF.

So anyway, please tell me how I find out if there are seats left that would interest me. I have DVTs in my left leg and need leg room and a comfortable seat.

You have clots in your left leg? Yuck!

I have no medical training, but it appears that thromboses are caused by any prolonged sitting, regardless of leg room or not. You're sure it's okay to fly in your condition?

You have to go to the next screen and you'll find the "Select Seats" link. Just don't enter your CC information or click "Purchase" on that screen and you won't get charged.

The other way is to call reservations and ask, but they'd try to make you purchase while on the phone, which would cost you extra.

I think the extra pay for the CS is worthy for the OP. and this is the best way for OP

Keep the reservation on hold and just make a second dummy booking. After you take a look at the seat availability, just close the page showing the dummy booking. And if you are looking for upgrade possibilities, just do a dummy booking the service cabin you desire and see what pops up.

Its safe only if I can escape a long flight on an RJ with no leg room. I am on Coumadin and have a vena cava filter, but this Delta CRY 700 (14C no less) last week almost put a clot in a surface vein of my right leg. So I need a solution for getting to SDF that is safe and doesn't cost $1,300 (like AAs).

Sounds like a good plan. I'll give it a try today. I had already used the phone before and I would prefer to get it all done through the web.
