Upgrades
 
I just tried upgrading a flight from LAX-PHL on Dec 11 which is so many months away only to be placed on a waitlist? An idea of the chances of getting it cleared?

What upgrade instrument are you planning on using (i.e. 500 milers, CR-1, SWU, miles)?

You have to give them a chance to sell SOME seats. :)

What are you using to upgrade? 500s, you will wait until that week. CR1, it will be before, but based on inventory management.

Waiting too.
 
I am on a waitlist too for DEN-EWR in Nov using miles. I guess we just have to wait and see.

I am using a domestic certificate. Is that the same as CR1. Also I was able to successfully upgrade HNL-LAX. Do they have to sell a certain number of seats before opening up the number of upgradable seats? I mean I thot they had a certain number of seats on each flight that was meant for those who upgrade.

Looks like the 1192/264 574/264 combos are the only one with *N*F space right now. Maybe that'll change. This assumes that your flight is shown and that award booking screens accurately show *N*F space (X).

Actually, just to clarify, for an upgrade you want NF (X) space. XF (R) is for free tickets.

Should be NF (X) as corrected by poster above and I got it from making an award reservation.
