VDB when connecting to a *A codeshare?

VDB when connecting to a *A codeshare?
I'm flying IAD-CDG-WAW on Saturday and IAD-CDG (UA914) looks full, CDG-WAW is UA4796 which is a codeshare with LO332. I have a flexible schedule so I would be happy to take a VDB. I've done VDBs many times on domestic flights, usually with a rerouting but don't have experience with international and in particular codeshare scenarios.
Will UA VDB passengers connecting to a codeshare? Even if it means changing the routing and the airline on the second segment (I could connect to an LH flight instead of LO through FRA, MUC for example)?

Probably not. It just will cost them too much to do so.
Last time I had such a situation (albiet couple of years ago) they will not bump me off becuase re-booking of the second international segment was not possible.
