I would guess SEA-HNL & SAN-HNL would be 757's that would otherwise be doing some weekday transcon service. Smart idea to reassign them to a mostly leisure route on the weekend.

SEA-HNL is great news even if it's just seasonal weekend. I haven't checked the schedule, but I'm betting it's an evening outbound and redeye return, in which case it can be accomplished by aircraft that are simply idling overnight in SEA. If the route proves successful I can certainly see it being expanded to daily.

Too bad I don't live in Seattle anymore.

My guess: either an ETOPS 752 or a CRJ200 with air-to-air refueling

Or a CRJ200 with ferry tanks in the cabin and only a few seats. :d

That is hilarious!

Good job Communications, hopefully they release the word to the Flight Crew that those cities are not in Missouri...

I agree, this is great! Hopefully the schedule will be designed to connect with the European flights into/out of IAD.

I guess there's no chance of some DC-10s coming out of retirement for SEA-HNL like in the old days. And SAN-HNL is a real surprise. I'd bet it's 757s for both routes.

Good news to see that UA still considers Hawaii "our little corner of the world."
