First class for coach price?

I booked a ticket through united.com yesterday SFO-PSP via LAX. On the return leg from LAX to SFO, the system only brough up first class, even though there was availability in coach. The price was the same for almost all flights that day, so I did not pay a premium of any kind, nor would I ordinarily want an upgrade on a short flight from LAX to SFO. Did I luck out or was this a system error? I did confirm my seat in 1B.

No telling for sure what United.bomb has done... but what is the fare basis for the ticketes? QUP and YUP fares book into F but are "economy" fares in a sense.

Sorry - I left out the fare designation : QUA7UPN.

Yes - that is a "coach" fare, but one that confirms into the F cabin -

It's great to have a coach fare with a built-in upgrade. It's not eligible for the class-of-service bonus, though.

Actually, you do earn 150% EQM on Q-UP segments.

Yes, surprisingly enough Lori_Q, these Q-up fares do earn the class-of-service bonus. Pretty nice ^ .

There have been multiple previous threads on the QUP fares. They are NOT a coach fare with a free upgrade. They are a fully confirmed first class fare, with both RDM and EQM 50% class of service bonus. The Q prefix has nothing at all to do with the class of service, although there are even some UA CSRs who don't understand this.

Thank you all for your feedback. This is the first time I ever had this happen when booking at the website.
