If I pay the $200 I'll have 49,070 miles - will they give me 1P?

I currently have 43,702 miles and if I pay the $200 for double EQM I'll have 49,070 miles....just my luck I flew to the UK on Oct 24th so I didn't qualify for double miles for my flight there, only the return!

The question is do you think they'll give me 1P? All of the 49,070 miles were on United and I've been 2P for a couple of years. I don't want to do a mileage run between now and the end of the year but the 100% flight bonus is worth alot and as I fly internationally I would enjoy the lounge access.

Please give me you opinions, my worry is that they'll be sticklers on the full 50,000 precisely because of the double EQM promotion.

930 miles or 93 miles short I doubt United will grant you 1P automatically. Just suck it up and do a MR if you are short and want that level.

Ask SEA_Tigger how lenient they are this year.
No.

If you were/are a current 1K, then maybe. But, as SEA_Tigger's saga clearly pointed out, there's no free lunch this year, especially with all the promos UA has thrown at us.

I recall UA offering a buy-up to elites who were close (after Jan 1), in the past couple years I've been on FT, but doubt that will happen this year. One can hope, though IIRC, it was for re-qualifying as opposed to gaining a rung, so, if correct, wouldn't apply to your situation anyway.

Perhaps some big Xmas spend and 50.00?

Or, perhaps a short MR?

Pat

Not true (for this year at least).

It applied to anyone up to 10,000 EQMs or 10 EQS short of 2P or 1P. It specifically excluded gaining 1K status by buying the EQM/EQS.

Don't risk it. They're already offering so many EQM deals that they're less likely to be lenient this year.

Ouch. Ya'll are tough today.

To the OP: just take a quick (and cheap) same-day roundtrip to LA or anywhere else in CA for lunch and back.

I have been a true 1K for several years, and this year I am short 392 miles, and I am definitely not going to count on UA giving me 1K. Hence a NYE MR mentioned on another thread.

Rulz is Rulz

As Red Forman said, "without the rules we may as well be sitting in trees flinging our crap at each other".

I think I would rather do an MR than change my FT handle The SWUs and CR-1s will certainly miss me otherwise.

So you could go from GM to 2P or 2P to 1P....hmmm...good info. Thanks...

Do you recall the cost per EQM/EQS?
