M+ gives Hilton Honors gold VIP card

Today I received a Hilton Honors Gold VIP card and membership with a letter saying that I got it because of being a M+ FF (1K).

I already hold the hilton membership at gold level.

Apart from UGS, I was wonder what would be your most desireable elite benefit card as a perk from M+?

I'd gladly take an HH Diamond card. Like you, I earned my HH Gold the hard way, and it kinda gripes me to see them handed out.

Of course. . . I'd gladly take my RCC membership at a deep discount (read: free!!! ) rather than the current modest price reduction. (I'm still trying to work on my company to accept it as the business expense/benefit that it is!)

Forgive my newbie question, but what is special about UGS? As far as I understand, UGS is United Global Service -- am I correct? What do you have to do in order to become UGS, and what special perks come with it?

As a side note, this is my 200th post. Do I get something cool?

Happy 200th post! ^

Before anyone flames you for not using the search function, UGS is UA's uber elite status (equal to Amex Centurion or LH HON). They get a black card and access to priority and personalized services the rest of us (even 1Ks) can only dream about.

The only way you can become UGS is by:
1. Spend lots of money on F and C tickets on UA
2. Be in charge of travel decision for a large UA customer
3. Have a contract with UA that bestows UGS status to a certain number of employees

Did I miss anything, guys?

I got one (1P).

From what I've read, this is a nicer card than *wood gold in terms of beneifts.

Actually (because it applies to a coworker of mine), you can also make UGS by buying a gazillion miles worth of flights in coach, and being an all-in-all steady customer. (We 1K peons can only dream of whatever magic element flips the switch. I, for one, am hoping for award by association! )

It also bears mentioning that no one knows for sure what the official requirements are to be invited to UGSdom, as it is not published anywhere (and UA marketing is very tight-lipped about this).

Everything mentioned on FT is pure speculation, although most of it is probably very accurate.

Still nothing for me either as 1K.

BTW, this topic was already being discussed here.

My boyfriend got one (Premier) and I did not (Premier Executive).

Whatever, as long as one of us has status, that is usually enough. Although we do not know if we will even use the Hilton card. I had gotten Gold one time in the past for some reason, and I think we were able to use it once. It was nice, but since the vast majority of travel is personal, we would rather save money by using Priceline.

Got one, signed up . . . pretty much only so I could add another program next to the UA 1K under my username.

I can't remember the last time I stayed in a Hilton. However, I guess the marketing strategy works, b/c I was just looking this morning into booking a Dubai Hilton coming up in October.

Based on somewhat limited experience, I would agree with this. My *wood gold has gotten not much more than a gold card in my wallet. HHGold, in combination with the Hilton Platinum Amex has gotten me excellent room upgrades, free booze and food, and I'm amassing hilton points at an amazing pace. As far as I'm concerned a good program.
