Boarded Wrong Plane!

Yesterday, I boarded a 757 at SFO headed for EWR. The reader buzzed. The (unfriendly) GA just tore my BP manually and gave me the stub, with a huff. She couldn't be bothered to check why my BP buzzed.

On the plane, someone was in my seat 2A. Her BP said BWI, not EWR, so I smiled and said, "ma'am, I think you've boarded the wrong plane - this one's going to Newark." Many people in F exclaimed "What, this plane is going to Newark?!? I'm going to Baltimore!".

Well, needless to say, I was on the wrong plane, and that's why it buzzed! Yes, I'm an idiot! Just needed to share! :o

My!

And here I thought you might have been able to have the captain to at least reroute the plane as an UGS... :D :D :D

I guess it happens to the best of them, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing. :D

I recall a flight from EWR to DFW about 15 years ago where the jet ramp had a fork at the end of it and another flight heading for ATL. Shortly after takeoff they announced the number of miles on the flight to DFW, and a gentleman seated near me did everything he could to not lose it....yep, he was supposed to go to ATL.

At least you caught it on the ground!

I've never, ever, ever done that, and I've never, ever seen it happen. Good to know it does every now and then. I've been on flights where the FA's have announced the destination, and then jokingly said that if that's not where you're going to get off now. Who knew - it's true! :)

I nominate this for the Trojan-Enz boner of the week award.

I'm quite happy to say that I am, AFAIK, on the right plane at the moment. I'll use this opportunity to say how much I love LH's FlyNet (and that 1989 Champagne from Reims which they keep refilling )

BJ - Don't they immediately revoke your UGS membership because of this? ;)

Oops! At least it happened on domestic, not international flight.

Perhaps this is the BJ Buzz?

I'll try some of that tomorrow ^

I've tried to do this, but the GA noticed when the BP reader buzzed.

I could have done without the condescending "This isn't your flight, sir."

 What else could she have said?

I assume that wimpypipsqueak was referring to the GA's tone of voice, not the actual words pronounced.

He could have done it in a way that wasn't aimed at trying to embarass me in front of the line of pax. He could have added "you loser" to the end without any change of context.

OK....so he was right, but no need to tell me that in public :D

If you ever run into him, you can raise a glass with that poor bloke several years ago who, intending to board a domestic flight to Oakland, boarded an NZ flight to Auckland...but didn't realize his mistake until it was too late

When it rejects mine and I am coach transpac, I get a big grin waiting for that nice shiny op-up boarding card. When I am domestic trying to get to the transpac, I get real nervous.
