Moving the Aisle Side Armrest

Has anyone been successful at moving the aisle side armrest? I saw a flight attendant move it all the way up on a Boeing 757, but I can't for the life of me find the release.

I know there's no way on 777's but you can do that on 757's and a few others. I have ridden on other 777's that had armrests that go all the way up, but none were United's.

I know it's been discussed here somewhere before, but reminding y'all that it can be done on EVERY aisle seat on the CRJ...

The 'post' up from the floor that connects to the armrest has a little switch, just below the joint that connects to the armrest (it faces the front of the plane, just under the armrest). Can be hard to find, but it's there, just gotta reach around a bit to find it.

I only use it when there's someone next to me as I can get my thigh out into the aisle a little bit giving both of us a little more room.

Coach Ditka would just kick it off while cussing up a storm. I think you should try that. ;)

Perhaps it's only certain rows that have the feature?

I seem to recall a seatmap on US' website that indicated certain rows that had movable armrests. My guess is that it's to allow wheelchair pax to slide into the seat from the wheelchair instead of having to climb over the armrest.

IMO it always makes for a more comfortable flight when the aisle armrest goes up. I guess because people usually sleep on a UA 777 they dont want it to go up as they might fall into the aisle.

I know that on the Airbii seats, the release is on the inside of the armrest where it connects to the seatback, it's covered by the seat back cushion.
