Does checking in online help with U/G waitlist?
 
Does checking in early online help to get ahead of others on the upgrade waitlist (within your same status)?

International or domestic?

I don't think it matters for international as you can't check-in online. I've heard for domestic it can help though.

Presumably for domestic, it can help since if the u/g waitlist goes to airport control, you'll have checked in earlier than others.

Yes. I have checked in at the airport and been told I was number one on the airport UG list, but then I slipped to number two when a passenger who had checked in online arrived and requested to be added to the airport UG list. That passenger's earlier checkin time trumped me even though I got to the airport first.

I can confirm this apparently "helpful" early online check-in oscar112 , based on my experience. Waitlisted on one of my segments, but upon checking-in online, was able to choose seat on available first class seats. Good luck.
