I want to use four regional awards (16 segments) to book a trip from IAD to Cedar Rapids, IA this year for a family reunion. Are there black-out dates? Also, I am concerned if I can get 4 tickets for a little RJ between ORD and Cedar Rapids.

Asinine? I think you are far, far too generous to United, given all the impediments to ever collecting, especially with the big prize, that is the RTW award. (You and I have commented on this before, as we came to a realization of what was involved on the redemption side. Now, it seems that others are finding this out for themselves as they go about collecting on the deal.) And beyond the inconveniences you and others note, one must wonder if there isn't something less than entirely honest here, with how United has arranged the redemption part. I was planning to fly more to earn the RTWs. Completing the booking for the RTWs, however, seems an almost insurmountable challenge within reasonable itinerary and timing parameters. So I'm quiting with enough credits (32 segs) for 2 international flights and hope I can get something reasonable when I have those paper certificates in hand, which I will then turn around and give back to United. (BTW, will they hit me up for $15 each when I claim these rewards?) [16 segs gets you coach; 32 first. Does 24 get business?] |
