E+ Exit Row Aisle vs. First window
This is my first year with status (and I made 1P!). I am enjoying E+, particularly exit rows on the aisle. I really don't like window seats as it is a little claustrophobic on a full flight, but I've been very lucky with no "neighbors" in the Exit Row on several recent flights.
I am now flying SFO-YVR on A319, with 11D (exit) reserved on each flight. However, reading past threads, I think this is a good opportunity to burn some certs. and upgrade. However, I have often felt really uncomfortable in a window seat especially up front where it seems bumpier to me during turbulence (as opposed to over the wing area). Is there anyway to state an aisle preference or am I stuck with the window if that is what they assign me? I haven't walked through the online upgrade request to find out if there is a request in there because I wasn't sure if you pull the trigger before you get to that point (if it exists at all). If not, is this something that could be noted in a phone call? Pardon my ignorance, and thanks in advance! |
You can't do it online, once your upgrade is processed it just gives you a seat (and sometimes it does not). Just call UA once the upgrade is processed and they should accomodate you.

THANKS...that took all of 2 minutes to get a response! In this case, faster than calling!

Note to UA: Could we please, please, please have this feature though?
I dread the upgrades on planes like 737's and A319's where I invariably get assigned a bulkhead seat and I'd much rather sit in coach that sit in the bulkhead. I would actually have to think for a moment between an E+ middle seat and a Bulkhead window in first. |

I seek out bulkhead aisles in domestic First and Economy (laptop user and I like to be able to get in and out of my seat) and if I have the latter and can't get the former, I won't upgrade, regardless of stage length.

E+ on domestic. Waste of certs on F in two class plane
E+ aisle with noone sitting next to you on the exit row is far superior than F on a two class plane. Specially redeye.

Does an UG to F on a SFO-YVR PNR get a person access to the International First Class lounge?
