Question on ual.com / seat selection

I just got comped to be a PE.
How do I go on ual.com, pull up my itenary and browse through the seats on a flight, and maybe change my seat, like you can on delta.com?

I know this is a dumb question, but i cannot seem to figure it out.

You would think so, but united.com technology is still a few years away. Call up United customer service, have them remove and re-enter your MP number into your record (which will make the system recognize your new 1P status) and then you'll be able to change your seat assignment. Enjoy the exit row!

But the only way you can change your seat on-line is using Easy Check-In right before the flight, right? Otherwise, you have to call the Premier Exec reservations line and ask them to do it for you.

That's right. There's no way to move seats online (yet) unless you're checking into the flight online (within 24 hours of takeoff). You have to call if you want to get the seats changed.

And the regular reservations number works, too. ;)

Sort of a related question to the OP... anyone got any idea how long it takes for United's reservations system to recognize status changes? It's been 2 days, and I just booked a flight, but the system still wouldn't let me see the exit row. I tried several flights just to test.

its supposed to be immediate, but i beg to differ. when i was getting close to 2P i was keeping a very close eye on exactly which segment would push me over. when i called in to have them refresh my MP number, however, the date i was given as my qualifying date was NOT the same date I had figured on. considering i was using my mileage balance from THEIR page, i cant say that the error was bad math on my part.

so the long answer to your short question is: a few days
