Is this cert really useless?
Sorting through some old papers earlier today, I came across a $100 discount travel certificate issued by UA customer relations. It said that I had to ticket by Jan. 31, 2003. I know the terms of the cert say that it cannot be reissued or extended past its expiration, but do any of you have experience where this has been waived? I thought that I might send it in to the MP desk along with a nice note asking for a new cert - worst case, I don't get the cert back, not a big deal since it wasn't valid anyway. Is this even worth the stamp?
As it happens, I got this cert as part of a lengthy delay on our not-so-dearly departed Atlantic Coast Airlines. Maybe UA will send me a new cert as part of a celebratory measure for having gotten rid of them? ;) |
If you're going to send it back, send it back to customer relations, not MP.

A few months ago I mailed an expired $100 voucher and three expired companion coupons to CS with a letter basically stating I will take what I can get, with no specific requests. A week later I received a letter telling me that they would deposit 5 x 500-mile upgrades into my account. These appeared a week later. Not much, but still better than throwing the coupons away.
