Premier Security Line At LAX?
I searched the forum but was unable to find anything on this. Is there a security line for 2P/1P/1K at LAX? I'll be flying through there on Friday, I'm 1P. Thanks in advance for the help.

There is a Premier security line at LAX, but... it's in Terminal 6, not Terminal 7.
If you're heading to the terminals by bus and tell the driver "United," he'll announce United only for Terminal 7. You want Terminal 6. |

To get to the right place in Terminal 6 for UA elite check-in tell the driver "United International".
|
Even if you shout United International to the driver, still you might miss it, because a lot of drivers just don't know about the Premier check in area. It's kind of between six and seven.
I can't recall how the special security line is posted, but I think it's 1K and First Class. Go for it anyway. A few of the times I've gone through it's actually been a slower line because the TSA seems to use it for training new screeners. I'm serious. You can see the supervisor coaching a very nervous newbie watching the screen on the xray machine. Very slow. But once you are to the head of the special line, you can veer over to the other three xray machines. |
1. When you tell the driver "Terminal 6," you want to go as far toward Terminal 7 as you can while still being at Terminal 6.
2. If you're a 1K, even when flying domestically you want to check in at Terminal 6 (which is for international) flights, because there's a 1K/First Class check-in counter there. 3. The special security line is between 6 & 7. It is simply a line that runs immediately to the right of the regular security lines. If you don't know to look for it, you might miss it. If you look for it, you should see a small sign that says "Premier" -- that's your line. During peak times there will be MANY people in the regular line and no more than a few in the Premier line; it saves you a lot of time. 4. During slow times of the day, when the lines are short, the Premier line isn't there. 5. If you don't see the Premier sign, simply ask the security guard about it when she checks your boarding pass & I.D. before you're allowed to proceed to the security check-point. She'll know what you're talking about and can point it out to you. |
Another possible tip:
When you check in, go toward the CO check in area. There is another security checkpoint there, and they have a Gold Lane as well, and it's more efficient than the UA premier line.

Sometimes, after I've humped it all the way from Terminal 7 security back to Terminal 6 through that ridiculously long corridor, I have found those security people kicking back and chatting rather than checking anyone through.
But then again you can see the Security check point btw 6 & 7. I have walked over to the bottom of the Term six escalators only to find a winding queue only the like of D-land could imagine. |

Watch carefully before you pick the screening line which one seems to move the quickest. There is one screener in particular who is excruciatingly slow. |
So after reading all this there's still something thats not clear to me... I'm a Premier Executive, and I've checked in online for a 7am flight tomorrow. If I go to T6 and use the Premier security lanes, I'm assuming I then have to somehow get over to T7 airside to get to my gate?
I just moved here, so I dont know LAX too well yet... will the United area's be busy at 6am on a Friday? |
Once you pass Security and are airside, there's a bit of a long walk (5 min) down a corridor over to T7. T8-T7-T6 are all connected airside.
Neither shouldn't be too crowded at 6am, but you never really know until you get there. |
