Priority security line at SFO
 

When one walks into the UA section of the terminal at SFO, there are two security checkpoints: one on the left side of the glass walls and escalators (near the "regular" check-in counters) and another on the right side of the glass walls and escalators (near the "premium" check-in counters).

At the checkpoint on the right side, there's a sign indicating that it's a "Priority Lane" (for premium passengers).

However, every time that I've flown UA out of SFO lately, the checkpoint on the right has been closed, and the checkpoint on the left has been open. Is the "Priority Lane" ever open? If so, when?

Usually it's open during busy peak times (7AM - 10AM). I don't know about midday since I tend to fly out really early or late. When i fly out late, it's never been open. However most of the time the one on the left is normally really short.

I usually go through around 5pm and it's open. Not sure when it opens in the afternoon but it usually stays open until around 6pm (unless it's very, very slow).

I fly out of SFO every week anywhere between 8 and 11am. I've never seen it closed during these times, though I can vaguely recall a very early (6am departure) when it was not open.

This past Monday the priority line was open when I got there at 6:30am, but only one of the two main "stations" open (one of the metal detectors had a big blue "TSA Authorized" sign across it announcing that the TSA did not have that one in service. My tax dollars at work...). Sometimes it's just plain faster to go through the main UA domestic security line or the one off to the right (I think) of the 1K/1P check in desks.
