Upgrade on Friday?
 
I'm a 2P and have a 1,000 mile upgrade certificate for signing up for the UA Visa (expires in December). Since I'm a new 2P comped from Delta, I don't have any 500-milers yet, but I'll get 4 of them next month for a trip out west when I pass my first 10,000 miles threshold.

Here are the 2 flights I'm on:

06/18

UA 423 BDL-ORD - 6 am flight on a 319
UA 427 ORD-MSY -On a 737-300

Both look pretty open for upgrades, but is it even worth trying to use it on either of those flights? or should I just hang on to it for awhile?

Nothing special about those flights. I usually sleep to ORD. You will get an egg burrito for your meal.
I say no if you want to save your cert. Only 8 seats in F on a 319
