Are Rows 8 and 9 both Exit rows on 757s?

I'm flying transcon (IAD-SEA) on a 757 with Little Ms SeattleFred (not quite 3y/o). Can we sit in 8D/E, or do those seats have the 15y/o minimum? If we can't sit there, what are the best E+ seats that are not Exit rows?

8 and 9 are considered exit rows on the 757. 9a, b and c are on the left side of the plane (facing forward) with door2L immediately in front. 8d and e are on the right side of the plane right next to door 2R. 9f does not have a seat infront of it.

any of the other seats in E+ are good, except row 14 which has limited recline.

try seatguru.com - you can lookup aircraft by carrier and get a seat map with explanations of good, ok and bad seats

Row 8 and 9 are exit row. this include 9def. the VM on the 757 are just next to the lav in from of row eight and right above row 11, if this interests you. Row 14 and 15 seats A and F are non-reclining seats.

E+ seating row 8-16

hope this helps.

Because 9ABC gets so much "traffic" while boarding and, together with 8DE an 9F are "bulkhead" types, and 9 DE don't offer extra exit row space beyond E+, I book directly in exit rows 15 and 16. Lots of legroom and full underseat storage with the preceding rows. I've never measured the seatpitch but it seems like the pitch in rows 15/16 beats out 757F seats by a lot. As suggested above, rows 10 through 14 are E+ and non-exit.

Shhhhhh!!!

zibitt, nnnnnuhghg, pfzibitat!!!

Non no nein nyet no, 9F is NO good, no good at all!!! You do NOT want to request 9F at all ever, ahah, noway!!! Bad bad bad bad bad seat.

If I see you in 9F on one of my flights, I will pick you up and move you!
but you won't go to 9D, since that is where #1 1K GF sits, and you won't go to 9E since that one is blocked by me and #1 1K GF and where my laptop sits on take off.

9F BAAADDD.

:D I think you are mistaken... All your 9F and that little nook between the door and 8E are belong to me!

Are we sure that row 9 on the right side (DEF) is considered exit row? I've never been given the exit row speech when in 9F, and I get 9F any time I sit in Y on a 757.

While they do not give you the speech (you can't reach the door handle, anyway), I was once in 9F and my BP said "EXIT ROW".

If little Miss SeattleFred enjoys looking out the window (or if you enjoy a bit of natural light) I'd avoid rows 12 and 13, which are next to a blank wall. Go for row 10 or 11.

I had Row 14 twice last weekend. Row 14 did appear to recline a little bit less than Row 13, but the difference was insignificant to me.

I used to avoid Row 14, but from now on I'll be happy to take Row 14 if that's the only window available in E+.

Thanks, everyone. We've got Row 10.

Yes 9 ABCDEF are apart of the exit row & you should be given the exit row speech.

Exit row #16 Armrest

Does the armrest lift up in exit row #16? I know most bulkhead seats are stationary. SeatGuru does not mention it.

SEA_Tigger Nov 4, 2004 10:13 am

I believe the armrest is molded into the wall so as to not block the window exit.

I just flew in 16F on a 757 (BOS-SFO) and I have to say I was actually very impressed. Usually I like rows 8/9, but since the flight was full and I booked at the last minute, 16F was all I could get. Much more legroom than normal E+ seats, full recline, and two windows to boot. The armrest was not built into the side of the plane (but in row 15 it is), however it is definitely shorter than normal. I'd say it's about half as long. I didn't really have any major issues with it, though.

To answer your question, the armrest does not move up, since the seats are so much further back from row 15, the tray tables are in the armrests in row 16. Not a bad price to pay for the legroom, though :)

My one complaint was that as we landed, I got a nice shower of condensation from the top of the window. It was a bit chilly, too, as there is some air leakage from the door seal.

But overall, 16F gets ^ ^ .
