DEN - 747-400 search question

This used to be so much easier when I was global services. Unfortunately, India cannot help me with this question so I present to all of you. Thanks for any advice.

The wife has been traveling more for work and for the first time in her life got elite status. As a result she has started to understand my strange obsession and actually just did her first mileage run. I enjoyed picking her up at the airport and seeing the exhaustion and satisfaction as well. Anyways, the other night she was talking about all the different planes she has flown this year, and noted she has never been on a 747. I am thinking xmas gift.

Question 1: what routes does UAL use the 747 from DEN and by extension where is the 747 coming from?

Question 2: Is there a way to search the web site or is there a timetable of flights with equipment I can search through faster than guessing dates across a week. The ultimate goal being trying to get her a 747 flight out and then preferably the next day back on a 747. I figure I have enough lifetime miles to upgrade her to F, and then book here into a Hyatt nearby.

Thanks. I am just searching each day hoping to get lucky and find one right now.

Except in the rarest of occasions, DEN does not get 747 service. When it does happen, the 744 is usually coming from ORD and heading to LAX or SFO to ORD, or wherever it's next mission is. Currently, the largest scheduled equipment we have is the 777.

To see the days and cities that we have wide-body service to, check the wide-body schedule on UAL Cargo.com

http://www.unitedcargo.com/ShowFiles...s/Widebody.pdf (PDF Warning) This lists all wide-body flights in the UA system.

Thank you. I had seen a 747 only a couple times and it was always midday so I was not sure how to search for that. Maybe I need to ship her to ORD.

Probably not much chance on United, as FriendlySkies says, but Lufthansa has a DEN-FRA direct which seems to be a 747 (at least on the few days I checked via hipmunk).

I figure if you're gonna be on a 747 for the first time, you might as well be going upstairs. And if you're gonna be going upstairs you might as well be on Lufthansa, cuz not that many airlines have First upstairs. :)

I'm not sure if you were asking about domestic routes, though. If I were gonna fly all the way to Germany then I'd probably want to do more than spend one night in the airport Hyatt, but maybe that's just me.

+1

Not a mileage run, but consider getting her an award ticket on LH F. Relatively easy to find availability on DEN-FRA, around one/two weeks before departure.

DEN has no 747 service by UA.

AFAIK - the following routes are regularly served by 747:

ORD-HKG

SFO-NRT/ICN/PEK/HKG/SYD/LHR/FRA

LAX-SYD

SYD-MEL

No need - only in rare cases that 747 serves domestic routes. Otherwise, TPAC and some TATL only.

I know it's incredibly irrelevant to the OP's question, but

NRT-SIN

is also operated by a 747. At least until they shift another PMCO 737 over there...

ORD-NRT is also served by 744 nowadays.

Rest assure, I doubt the current CO737 can handle NRT-SIN.

+1 to this. Took the family to Europe this summer DEN-FRA in LH F and it truly is an example of what a "premium" experience is all about.

Not only are you one of just 8 pax upstairs, you get treated like you really matter...caviar (if that's your thing); Jonny Walker Blue scotch (that is MY thing ^); a full bed and pajamas for sleeping; and you're met by a private car in FRA to escort you to the terminal. Not to mention the F class lounge experience. You'd get some major husband points if you can swing this for your wife.

I'm not 100% sure but LH 747 service might just be a summer thing. IIRC it switches back to a A340 at some point in the year.

I'm flying FRA-DEN in two weeks, and they've got it listed as a 747. When I booked in May, it was listed as an A346. Hoping to find the new F on my flight

to find 747 routes, see Widebody Schedule Effective December 2011

Lufthansa is not UNited .... the OP was asking about a UA 747 .

In short 747s are a rare breed in Denver outside of LH and unless an equipment swap occurs you will not find them there

UA 747s are on the transpacs where you can stuff people in like cattle.

ONly European cities are FRA and LHR and that from the west coast.

In terms of the best 747 expierence out there with any airline. Air New Zealand has really solid product. BA has some of the Best 747s left out there. Cathy and Malyasia also have nice 747s

The best star alliance 747 would probably have to be SQ

Obviously, LH is not UA. But the OP wants a 744 from DEN, which LH has, as referenced several times in this thread.. Is there a problem with us recommending it?

THERE WILL BE A UNITED 747-400 in Denver tomorrow
