Post UA Mileage Plus earnings for each fare class on every *A partner [Merged/Updated '10]

It seems there have been many changes sneaking in recently to the 100% RDM elligible booking classes on *A partners. On united.com, they make no mention of the changes, except under each individual airlines page. Most seem to have snuck in around the beginning of June. This thread is an attempt at a summary of what MP members can earn on each *A airline. There is some imcomplete information, and most likely, some incorrect information, but I think it is mostly correct . I also shamelessly stole WindFlyer's related, but out of date post, and updated it:

The FAQs
  • Flight miles earned *A members count both as redeemable miles (RDMs) and toward elite status (EQMs).
  • Premier Boni (25% for 2P, 100% for 1P/1K) are only earned on US, LH, CO, AC.
  • Flight miles earned *A partners count toward the 100K + 50K EQM threshholds for extra SWU's introduced for the 2005 membership year.
  • Miles earned on *A partners do not count for MM status, or 10k thresholds for e500 or CR-1 upgrade certs.
  • When flying on a *A partner code share, the operator of the flight must also be a UA partner for the flight to earn miles.
Example: OS flight number on AF metal = no miles earned
  • For information on the earning schemes of *A partners' FFPs check out Sydfly's excellent thread on the *A forum.
  • It seems that when a 'home' airline changes earning rates on particular fares, UA MP is not far behind. For example, when LH changed earning for its own M&M members travelling on W & S fares to 50%, UA MP followed suit shortly after making the same change to UA MP members travelling on LH metal W & S fares. Any such notes will be added under the appropriate airline heading below when known.
  • Flights only earn actual miles, the 500 mile minimum for UA and some partners has been eliminated. Elites will continue to earn the 500 mile minimum for UA flights.

For earning information on non-*A MP partners, see cakobau's thread.

I would appreciate any corrections anyone is aware of, please post away!

Some open questions:
  • Does LH Z earn 125% bonus RDM?
    If so, for:
    • Transatlantic,
    • Intercontinental,
    • Intra-Europe,
    • German Domestic?
  • Does US Z earn 125% RDM bonus?
  • What are the correct booking classes for NH Domestic Japan flights?

Post below if you know the answer to any of these questions, and I'll update the thread above.

qasr,

The US chart earning 150% EQM for the F fare class has not been my experience on recent flights. But the documentation I have found corroborates your guide!

For example, an F class US Airways flight earned 100% "actual" miles in my UA mileage summary, and a combined 25% 2P bonus / 50% class-of-service bonus in the "bonus" column. However EQM miles for the year only incremented by the 100% "actual" miles. Am I interpreting this wrongly?

From Premier rewards on ual.com:
United First® and United Business® bonuses also count toward elite status.

From US Airways on ual.com:
Also, elite members who already earn elite miles in their frequent flyer program of choice will now earn the same elite bonus miles when flying the other marketing partner.

Thanks jjclancy. ^

It seems like 150% EQM is due to F (and A,C,D,Z,Y,B) fares on US, but it may not be posting automatically? Has anyone else had any experience here?

Miles on NZ

Below is an email I received from MP regarding travel on NZ. I wrote them regarding a trip I'm taking to PPT in September. The fare code is Q class, and according to the email, I should be OK, but I'm not too sure of the accuracy of the reply. It differs slightly from what qasr posted.

Hello Mr. [Deli99],

Thank you for being a loyal Premier Executive member of our program.

Flights flown on Air New Zealand in the following classes of service
are
eligible for mileage accrual with Mileage Plus. F, C, D, Z, Y, A, B,
H, M,
Q, T, V, and W class.

Please note that while flights on Star Alliance member airlines do
qualify
toward earning your Premier status, they do not earn Premier bonus
miles.

Thanks for choosing United and Mileage Plus!

FWIW, I just finished a trip in Z on LH this week and here is what has posted to my MP account (I currently am a 2P):

Transatlantic segments: 150% RDM (4535 base miles/2268 bonus, per segment)
Intraeuropean segments: 125% RDM (518 base miles/130 bonus, per segment)
EQMs: 100% (10,106 EQM for the trip)

I'm not sure this clarifies anything. I was under the impression that I would earn 150% EQM on the transatlantic segments - from the website and as told by at least one MP CSR. Perhaps that will post later?

It is my understanding that only UA-operated flights in the appropriate class earn more than 100% EQMs, so US and LH flights always just earn 100% EQMs. For the transatlantic segment, you got a 25% premier bonus and a 25% class-of-service bonus for the Z fare, while on the intra-European segmments you just got the 25% class-of-service bonus for Z.

It's also important to note that the earning table above for LH called "Transatlantic Flights" only applies to flights between the United States and Germany. All other transatlantic flights (to/from Canada, Mexico, and all of South America) on LH don't earn any Premier boni, i.e. the "Intercontinental" chart applies. I suggest changing the LH chart to "Between the U.S. and Germany" instead of "Transatlantic".

The United webite claims that flights on Star Regional carriers Adria, Croatia and Blue1 earn 100% EQM. Does anyone have any experience to the contrary?

Thanks.

I read this page on ual.com as saying that MP members traveling on US and LH between the US and Europe also are eligible for the EQM bonus. I called MP about this recently, and the CSR with whom I spoke confirmed it.

Yes, you're right on that one. However, the web pages describing the miles earned on US Airways and Lufthansa make no mention of 150% EQMs. Inconsistent information on united.com... what a surprise...

I guess the only way to find out is to call and request 150% EQMs for your Z itinerary on LH. I doubt anything would post later on its own.

Q class on NZ is classified as discount economy by NZ and you will definitely earn at least 100% of miles flown.

It seems you got your 25% Premier bonus on the transatlantic + the 25% COS bonus too, making 150%.

Intra europe, you only got the 25% COS bonus, which is correct.

You should have got the 50% EQM bonus too, bust aa an OP said, it looks like you will need to call for this to post.

I'll make that change. The united.com website says "Between the US and Europe" but I don't think LH flies to anywhere other than MUC, DUS & FRA from the USA. Can anyone confirm/deny that?

Can anyone who has flown US-Germany (or vv) on a F,A,C,D,Z,Y,B fare please confirm that 150% EQM IS awarded for these flights?

OK, I'll update that too. I was somewhat hesitant to use that information since it contained the First Class fare codes, which are now defunct.
