Is UnitedCargo or United Mobile more reliable for aircraft type?
I am looking at TPE-NRT for 12/29.
It's a 777.
UnitedCargo says "B777," indicating old config.
But m.united.com says "Aircraft #2809," which, according to this wiki page is numbered as a new config (28XX = XQ configs).
So, which is more reliable?
United.com is showing the old-config seat map, but from what I understand, that is the least reliable of the three sources so it does not mean much.
Thanks!

1. .bomb seat map has now changed to new configuration. So, that's now .bomb and United Mobile saying new config, vs. United Cargo saying old config.
2. United Mobile also says that today's NRT-TPE, which has already departed, was operated by Aircraft #2809 (new config), which is the same aircraft that it is listing for TPE-NRT tomorrow. Assuming that United Mobile is correct about 2809 operating NRT-TPE today, that pretty much has to be the plane that will fly TPE-NRT tomorrow, right? (Unless UA has another 777 sitting around in TPE...)
3. Flightaware also says that N209 UA (new config) is operating NRT-TPE right now (in flight), and is scheduled for TPE-NRT tomorrow. But Flightaware seems to inaccurately list N209UA as being a 747 (?) maybe because the SFO-NRT flight on the same flight number is a 747...
4. But United Cargo continues to say that both today's NRT-TPE and tomorrow's TPE-NRT will be operated by "B777" (old config).
So:
United Mobile + .bomb + Flightaware vs. United Cargo.
Which source(s) to believe?

The .bomb XQ seat map displayed for the last 24 hours was correct. As indicated by United Mobile (and visually verified by me from the gate ), aircraft number 2809 did indeed operate TPE-NRT on 12/29. I treated my little brother to F on this trip (TPE-NRT-ORD and then separate destinations), and I was delighted to see the shiny new seats with AVOD (instead of tape player) when we boarded! ^ We had a great time playing multiplayer tetris against each other. (Except that I kept losing because my brother is much better at video games than I am.)

Incredibly, .bomb was right, and UnitedCargo was wrong!

XQ Deployment -- December
For the 30 calendar days from 1 through 30 December, here are the percentages of outbound trips on various routes performed by 77Qs.
The number of 77Q flights is first; the total over 30 days is second (numbers less than 30 account for Xmas service suspensions and some cancellations).
IAD -- DXB: 26/30 (86.7%)
IAD -- NRT: 21/28 (75.0%)
SFO -- PVG: 21/28 (75.0%)
LAX -- LHR: 21/28 (75.0%)
IAD -- PEK: 20/29 (69.0%)
LAX -- PVG: 18/27 (66.7%)
IAD -- KWI: 20/30 (66.7%)
ORD -- PEK: 17/27 (63.0%)
SFO -- KIX: 17/28 (60.7%)
ORD -- GRU: 16/28 (57.1%)
IAD -- LHR (918): 16/28 (57.1%)
HNL -- NRT: 16/29 (55.2%)
ORD -- PVG: 14/26 (53.8%)
SEA -- NRT: 14/28 (50.0%)
LAX -- NRT: 15/30 (50.0%)
IAD -- GRU: 13/28 (46.4%)
Keep in mind that several routes do not operate with 777 equipment in winter: this year, those routes include SFO -- LHR, SFO -- FRA, and SFO -- NRT.
Also, this winter many more of the intra-Asian tags are being performed with 77Qs. NRT -- BKK v v for example was about 60% new config for December. There are more domestic segments in the script as well -- especially IAD -- ORD v v and IAD -- LAX or IAD -- SFO v v.
Besides the main 77Q routes, there were a few strays on routes normally served with 77Cs or 77Ds:
IAD -- LHR (924): 5
ORD -- FRA: 3
IAD -- FRA: 2
ORD -- MUC: 2
IAD -- MUC: 1
IAD -- BRU: 1
As with the October list, this one does not include the 77Ds. N227UA was out of service for paint until 9 December; N794UA was in shop for maintenance for two weeks during the period; and N219UA only emerged from shop on 26 December, so these numbers were produced by about 19 equivalent aircraft.

Do you have the NRT-TPE statistics in December? In the last several months flying a number of UA837 and UA838 I have been on the new config more often than old config.

NRT -- ICN: 19/29 (65.5%)
Departure stats are 1 December -- 30 December ex NRT; returns would be one day later.

Thanks for all of the valuable stats. I'm curious from where they originate and if it's possible to call them up on the web for any requested time periods? A look over the past 3-6 months would be interesting. Actually, charting trends on routes in 30 day increments would be interesting to see how fast the acceleration is in terms of new configs and if any are actually decelerating.

Update: IPTE Conversions
That makes 21 77Qs plus one in work, and 6 77Ds, plus at least one in work; 27 completed at year-end. United had said there'd be 29, so they're close.

Is there a way to track how often a new config....
I am flying to LHR and I just checked Unitedcargo.com and I see that the 77Q has been swapped out for a B777. Then on the return it is also been swapped from a 77Q to B777. I am in F and while I'm upset, I have had five TATL LAX-LHR's this year and ALL have been swapped within 48 hours of departure. That sucks!!!!
Is there a way besides Unitedcargo to look at the metrics as to how often UA makes the switch?
Funny, UA 1K desk swears its the 8/40/207 config. Dot. bomb says the same and seat maps on mobile app show new config. But tail number according to the wiki is a XI config. Can anyone help? thanks

Further to my note in post 908 dated 26 December: N774UA is now also a 77D -- released 27 December. The completed 77Ds are therefore N773UA through N775UA inclusive, N777UA, N780UA, and N781UA.
That makes 21 77Qs plus one in work, and 6 77Ds, plus at least one in work; 27 completed at year-end. United had said there'd be 29, so they're close.

And, arg. Is it possible for us to clone or remake the wiki article somewhere else (e.g. wikipedia) where it can be updated? 4 weeks of "technical problems" is a bit too much IMO.
