I got 30k RDM last winter on a 20 hour MX delay internationally (yeah, I missed my connection at NRT, but fortunately my now-full-fare Y protected segment did manage to get the upgrade to C, one of 3 waiting at the gate, on the next day's flight).

I thought that a pretty generous amount of mileage for the delay, though given it cost me a few hundred $$ in things I had to cancel, reschedule, etc., at my destination, I would have really preferred a nice cash e-cert (I'm thinking $600+). *shrug* I didn't write in to ask them to swap it, though.

we're both 1K, but my flight was much shorter (MCO-IAD). Perhaps there is another factor at play that we are unaware of?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I think it honestly may just have to do with whomever (finally) answers the email. I had an in-op recline and was just told sorry as a 1K

$250 for just 30 minutes??
I wish all my flights were delayed 30 minutes.

Automated email. I've had 4hr delays and gotten zilch, so I figure this makes it even.

Had a 6-hour delay on 23 December; IAD-BNA. Didn't really bother me as I was in the UC and had plenty of work to do. When I landed I had an email directing me to .bomb/appreciation.

As a 1P:
7,000 RDM
$150 e-cert (domestic)
-10% (systemwide)

Took the e-cert.

Turns out the FO got sick enough to be admitted to hospital during the crew's overnight in YOW so they had to find a replacement and get him there, causing the massive delay. All things considered, I think the compensation was more than adequate; not UA's fault he ended up on the ENSL.

I received 9K also for a recent C>Y downgrade on the IAD>ORD segment of an international full C fare.

9K miles for on-and-off audio problems on a short flight. Always prefer an e-cert but I consider this a generous goodwill for a minor problem.

I would say so, since 9,000 miles is what I ended up with for a cancelled TATL that caused me to miss a business meeting.

No Video In Domestic F Trans-Con

12/28 UA615 ORD-LAX

I was in upgraded F on a 752 and both monitors were out. I honestly didn't even notice because I was busy playing GTA III on my new iPad the whole flight (thanks Santa!). The purser came through the F cabin prior to landing and handed out CA cards to everyone and apologized.

I was offered:
  • 4,500 miles
  • $100 Domestic Cert
  • 10% off (systemwide I think)

I took the miles.
