3/1 UA932 IAD-FRA
3/5 UA903 MUC-IAD ^^ Kudos to CAPT Dave Miller, who walked through the entire plane before takeoff, welcoming people on board, and a super cabin crew who provided excellent service.

3/4 UA944 B747-400 ORD-FRA Asked the FA on the upper deck, and she said that they would forward it on to the Captain. Despite him saying to send any request for them through the FAs, nothing changed

3/6 UA945 B747-400 FRA-ORD ^ Had the same FAs and pilots as UA944. Chatting with one of the FAs during boarding, the Captain walked by. Asked and he said that Channel 9 would be on. Very fun to listen to German ATC ^

3/7 UA 929 LHR-ORD 763
3/7 UA 907 ORD-SFO 763

Now, on 3/2, it was on during UA 934 LAX-LHR 777, but the strangest thing happened. On final approach to LHR, they switched freq to Heathrow Director (I think that's what it was called) and from that point forward, I could only hear the tower and our aircraft. The tower would make comments to other aircraft, followed by silence, then "thanks" or other replies.

Not much channel #9 lately

UA 835 ORD PVG 2/23/11
UA 858 PVG SFO 3/8/11
UA 972 SFO ORD 3/8/11

Not looking good for old #9. That's ok, because WI-FI on other airlines allows for listening in on ATC WITHOUT pilot discretion.

When WIFI comes to UA, then we won't have to deal with this insolence.

3/9 BOS-DEN (B752) ^ ^ ^

I inquired about it during the Exit Row briefing, and the flight attendant went up and asked. Came back and said it was on just for me.

On the whole flight!

3/10 #919 LHR-IAD ^

As an aside, I asked the purser just before landing (our second fantastic UK-based cabin crew this week) to thank the Captain and he replied, "Why don't you thank him yourself?"

He drew me aside at the door and took me up to the cockpit where I thanked all of them on behalf of us two 1Ks. I told them that another pilot had described it to us as a "great tool," and that today it provided great info for passengers since we experienced some rerouting and delays due to weather around IAD.

The pilot and first officers seemed to appreciate it (we ran into one in the security line for our connecting flight and chatted somemore) so I felt it was worth 30 seconds of my time to wave the Channel 9 flag, and the excellent purser seemed to enjoy having a passenger to do that as well.

3/10 UA 869 SFO-HKG ^ The Captain made an announcement at pullback that Ch. 9 would be on. First time in at least 2 years that I have been on a TPAC with Channel 9 on all the way to HKG (except when we were over China).
