5/27 SFO-IAD UA 914 Uptight Captain- didn't talk much and what he did say was almost always tinged with negativity. Bad day?
6/6 EWR-SFO UA 711^ Very odd and interesting flight. Got on plane, ATC traffic was on all channels, but very low volume and bad hum, very hard to understand. Captain announced Channel 9 would be available. We were delayed on the taxiway (clouds in SFO). Asked a FA about the Channel 9 issue- she denied any audio would be available until after takeoff. No music until after takeoff???? Yep, that is what happened. When they started the video package, all audio was fine. Channel 9 was good across the country.
When taxiing at SFO, suddenly United Company radio was also available on Channel 9 as well. Have never heard that before!

Both these flights can be heard for portions on some website with ATC archives (and live feeds too). One of them took a 3-minute takeoff delay when they didn't have numbers yet, a good 15 minutes after pushing from the gate. I guess some moron in the back might have thought that was the crew's fault and given them a hard time. At least UA didn't outsource W&B to India like Virgin Atlantic.
