The probablility math for the 33 plane group of long-haul aircraft (XI, XJ, XP, XQ) is better: 31 actually flying (figure 2 more withdrawn for work, replacing
N217UA and N222UA: one in PEK -- your N792UA-- and one at SFO --
N223UA); so, 14 of 31 = 45.2%...........

Except one of the converted is XD, so 13 of 31 777-200ERs actively flying are complete. Still 41.9%

Ah.

But why send it to PEK for heavy maintenance and NOT do the IPTE re-config at the same time?

Does anyone have an update on which aircraft are in for the mods then? I'm not that familiar with UA's fleet utilization, can they even keep up with two 777 at a time during summer?

I'm sure the new management wants to get these knocked out as quick as possible to avoid the hated aircraft swaps that so many are seeing. CO in the past has been pretty good about getting fleets modified in a timely manner, hopefully this is carrying over now that the decision to keep first has been made.

I fly 5 days from now IAD-LHR and right now seat maps and cargo show 77Q the new config. I know metal changes all the time, but how often? and is it a last minute thing or do they do these changes, weeks, months, days out?

There does not appear to be a pre-set change period. For some, it can happen months, week, days, or even hours out. It could even change at the gate, especially if your flight went mx, and you swapped to a 77Q.

Flew from FRA to ORD on UA945 yesterday. It was the new config. A week ago when I checked the online seating chart it showed three F rows. On Saturday, it showed two F rows. Not sure if they changed planes because of the re-routing of 944 (the incoming flight) the previous day.

I'm flying TPE-LAX on Saturday and seat map showed new config 777 last night, old config this morning. United Cargo shows 77X too. I was looking forward to the new config too. My flight outbound was old config.

We (wife, 2 children, mother and myself) flew on UA 890 from NRT to LAX today. I was so happy that we got the 77Q. My mom and my children were very happy with the new C seat. They enjoyed it a lot!
