United's Red Carpet Clubs to be Rebranded as "United Clubs" (Fall 2011)
CO Presidents Clubs and UA Red Carpet Clubs will be rebranded as United Club in 3-4Q 2011. Beverages and internet to remain, and a more streamlined food product to be offered in 2Q 2011.
No change to UA first lounges or arrivals.

Bad move. I like the Red Carpet Club branding much better. It created the illusion that you were getting some sort of special treatment. Kind of like the 10 feet pieces of red carpet they roll out for 1Ks and First Class pax.

Just to clarify. Is streamlined a word from United or from the OP?

Hopefully we get something better than cheese, crackers, cookies, etc. I'd love to see real food!
OP, do you have a source for this?
ETA: Looks like United Club is also the name for the Club Seat section at Soldier Field.. http://www.chicagobears.com/tickets/club.asp

The rebranding strikes me as a pointless move ... looks like just change for change's sake.
Why go through the hassle of re-branding two sets of clubs (with all their signs, membership cards, napkins, etc.) rather than just one (i.e., retain RCC [preferred] or PC; don't change both).

second cousin, twice removed, of a friend of a family member who knows a flight attendant for a regional airline said so.
I'm not doubting the name, but without anything to back it up....

United Club and 1K card combined in 2011
The new name for RCC is interesting in that those of us with lifetime RCC access as 2+ million milers will get a single card as of January for both the 1K program and the RCC.

Plus
- red may not be a part of UA's future brand
- as you merge the two clubs & members, instead of having one group feel it lost, now you have both giving up something (yeah - weak reason)
Fits with the reoccurring theme of a merger, not a takeover.

United Club??
How, um, original. Wonder how much they paid a consultant to come up with this extraordinarily clever name.

They got the name wrong...
Experience with some of the RCCs at IAD, as well as the erstwhile one in FRA, makes one feel that it should be called the Dungeon.
Of course, the Arrivals lounge at SFO has largely the same feeling.
