To clarify what we (I) can expect now that the original terms will be honored:

RDU-ORD 647 actual flight miles
647 (normal 1k elite status bonus)
1,294 (2x/double promo bonus; I flew 10k miles in Feb, NOT Jan)
TOTAL 2,588

Is this correct?

Please read the terms of the promotion on
Genes website

IF you flew 10K miles in Jan and are Prem Ex or 1K you end up with 5X miles on correct fares classes after that.

IF you flew the 10K in Jan and Feb etc you end up with 4X miles on correct fare classes after that

Gfowlers website sums it all up very well - he has done a hell of a job on this !!!!!

nor4, United allows you to buy up to a more expensive fare without any change fee. It is sure worth checking out how much more that LHR fare would be (as kluau88 has already recommended).

I contacted them just now at 877 288-1498, and it appears to work without a hitch.

Fantastic job!
Thank you for getting this done for us.

The decision was just made this morning so give them a few days to get everyone briefed on it. For example, I just had one person email me that he was told today only 1Ks will get the full 5X. I will follow up with that with my contact, but I was told everyone who contacts Customer Relations will get the original terms.

Give them time. It is a big company and it has to filter down.

And based on the decision, I have booked 2 more trips, one simple trip to SIN, and another to PHX-SFO-ORD-IAD-LHR-CDG-ORD-LAX-PHX

Gene,
thank you so much! I have sent off an email to Customer Service, as you suggested, and will follow up with a phone call in March, if it seems necessary. I truly appreciate all the work that you, and so many other FTers have done to get UA to "straighten up & fly right" in honoring the original terms of this promotion.

Gene ... hats off to you.

Folks like us cancelled 20,000 paid miles of flying each - as they moved the goal posts. I simply was tired of arguing with them about MPI 143 and "Great Offer" where they weaseled out of both.

To be honest I really thought they would not back down on this.

Great work.

There will be a RIOT if this gets into mainstream media "select group of MP members get millions of extra miles and all others shafted" etc. UA are in for problems ahead.

That's true in this case (LHR) but note that this is only on international fares - in most people's experience.

Oz, I know what you mean but to be fair, promotions are always most likely to be taken advantage of by a "select group of MP members".

And thats a club that I am very happy to be a member of!

It's about time they did the right thing.
I'll have my 100,000 in by middle of March so for me it's an extra 90,000 miles.
Regards,
Robert
