Does United operate a "focus city" at PHX? They have some oddball routes like PHX-RIC and PHX-TUS

TUS is a continuation of the IAD-PHX flight. Call it the Senior Express.

RIC is most certainly not a destination from PHX.

UA 1254 is a 'direct' flight from Richmond to Phoenix with a stop in Chicago.

There is absolutely no Phoenix-Richmond non-stop or vice versa!

oh sorry tuscon airport website confused me..so UA doesnt operate a focus city at phx?

Today's operations:
PHX-LAX 7x (UX)
PHX-SFO 5x (Mainline)
PHX-TUS 1x (Mainline)
PHX-IAD 1x (Mainline)
PHX-DEN 7x (Mainline)
PHX-ORD 5x (Mainline)

That's 26 flights plus LH PHX-FRA 1x.

So PHX is a substantial operation. All except PHX-TUS is a flight to/from a hub.

PHX-DEN used to be a Shuttle service if I remember correctly.I understand it is too short a hop for a meal service but do they serve the usual USA domestic wines etc in First or just the mor ewful stuff they had in the Shuttle?

I'm flying TUS-PHX in a few weeks: a nice way to pick up some extra miles. My question is it appears the PHX-TUS leg is at 8pm and the aircraft sits in TUS and goes back to PHX at 8am. Why do this? Cheaper to park a plane overnight at TUS? Lack of gate space overnight at PHX?

Any insights would be great

You get 1 plane service to TUS for all European connections via IAD in both directions.
