question on E-cert
so I got an E-cert for having my flight cancelled at IAD last night due to storms but the ticketing terms seem weird. They read...
5. Ticketing Dates: Valid for 1 year from July 25, 2010 6. Travel Dates: Valid for 1 year from July 25, 2010 do does that mean I both need to buy my ticket in the next year (which is reasonable) AND have the ticket be used within the next year (which seems a bit weirder) |
Yes, these are the standard terms on all the "apology" e-certs I've received.
P.S. I assume you mean 2011 :) |

the buying a ticket in the next year isn't a problem, but I already have 4 free flight vouchers from united, and I'm using one for next easter to visit the in-laws (with the Mrs.) and one to visit the in-laws again for christmas next year. I'd like to save this voucher for easter 2012, which I can buy within a year but obviously won't use within a year.
Hence the 5 not being a problem, but 6 is. so no firm verdict? |

Hence the 5 not being a problem, but 6 is. so no firm verdict? My experience is that the e cert will not be usable after 1 year. Many here have reported that the travel by date on ecerts is not enforced. Could it start being enforced between now and Easter 2012? Sure. |
ripper, didn't mean to offend you there just seemed to be conflicting answers. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if there is a trip worth taking that comes up in the next year where I might need to buy a ticket.
